Job Description

The Career Coach provides multifaceted career development advising services for students both at the undergraduate, graduate and professional school levels. Help students explore a variety of career options aligned with their academic pursuits, teach/ instruct career and professional development courses. Focus career coaching in the areas of healthcare, life sciences and STEM to students studying at both the Main campus and Roanoke campuses. The career coach will serve on retention initiatives, connect students to industry experts and cultivate experiential learning opportunities regionally and nationally as needed. Design and create digital newsletters to post internships and full time jobs with employers representing healthcare and science/ research career pathways. Cultivate partnerships with faculty and present career related programs and workshops in the classroom. Gain proficiency in utilizing such software platforms including Handshake, Career Coach, CareerShift, Big Interview and other proprietary technologies. Represent CCTD on the Pre-Health/Pre-Med student leadership club.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated track record of innovative thinking and problem solving. Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare and science related career paths and recruiting practices. Effective interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communications, management and training abilities. Advanced project and program management abilities. Proven ability to advise students in multiple majors, including the Humanities, social sciences, STEM and business.
Education: Advanced degree; or a Bachelors and experience that equates to an advanced degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrate the ability to teach and/coach college level students. Demonstrated ability to build and nurture relationships with key partners. Possess technical skills in Microsoft Office, Handshake, Career Coach assessment software and the utilization of CareerShift and Big Interview.
