BC/BE Cardiothoracic Surgeon Career Opportunity
Piedmont Heart Institute in Athens, Georgia, has an extraordinary opportunity for a BC/BE Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join the Piedmont Heart Institute at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center. The division is the sole provider of cardiac and thoracic surgical services to a large and diverse population in Athens and the surrounding area in Northeast Georgia and practices all aspects of cardiac and thoracic surgery. This is a full-time position with competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits. Ideal candidate will have minimum 3-5 years of experience in both cardiac and thoracic surgeries.
Piedmont Athens is a busy 427-bed regional hospital providing a full range of tertiary care services. We perform approximately 450 open heart surgeries a year, more than 150 TAVRs yearly, plus transcatheter procedures including TEER, Watchman, and soon tricuspid interventions as well. The team features two dedicated cardiothoracic surgery operating rooms (with fully dedicated OR staff), five dedicated APPs, and a 12-bed cardiac ICU. You would be joining two busy established surgeons, one of whom also utilizes the Intuitive Xi and DV5 robots for cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
Ideal candidates will be facile in all aspects of cardiac surgery (including emergent CABGs and aortic dissections; we do not perform transplants at Piedmont Athens). Additionally, collegiality and collaboration define our cardiac team at Piedmont. We pride ourselves on very close working relationships within our team, and between us as cardiothoracic surgeons, clinical and interventional cardiology, heart failure, and electrophysiology partners. Ideal candidates will also display a commitment to teamwork and excellence in patient care and patient safety to deliver the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Completion of ACGME accredited fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery
Board certified/board eligible in cardiothoracic surgery
Current Georgia medical licensure or the ability to obtain an unrestricted Georgia license
