Marshfield Medical Center - Dickinson is seeking a BC/BE Non-Invasive Cardiologist to join our horizontally integrated health system in Iron Mountain, Michigan. The ideal candidate will join well-established departments in collegial environments with dedicated support staff. The practice provides full-spectrum high acuity cardiac care to patients.
We strongly encourage our physicians to be involved in medical education and research to continue building our strong foundation of patient care, research and education for years to come.

Located in the Central Upper Peninsula, bordering Northwestern Wisconsin, Iron Mountain is tucked between the endless fresh coast shorelines of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. Iron Mountain has Ford Airport located in Kingsford, which is serviced by Delta Air Lines and has flights daily to Detroit, Michigan and Minneapolis, Minnesota, for easy access to the rest of the world! If you prefer to drive, a 90-minute drive puts you in Green Bay, Wisconsin and a five-hour drive gets you to Chicago's more urban lifestyle or the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area. Fun Fact: The Cornish Pump is the largest steam-driven pumping engine built in the USA and is housed in Iron Mountain!

Job Description

Cardiology Core Privileges include the privileges to perform history and physical examination, admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide treatment or consultative services for adult patients presenting with diseases of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. degree.
Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways:An applicant who has just completed a fellowship shall provide his/her residency or fellowship log. Please see criteria at the following link www.acc.org.ORAn applicant who is not applying directly out of a fellowship shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement of 100 cardiology procedures. Applicants that are level 2 and 3 Cardiologist (Invasive or Interventional Cardiologist) must also include 50 cardiac catheterizations as primary operator during the past two years with satisfactory quality data (if applicable to practice).ORIf a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant's clinical activity for the past 24 months is required. The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement of 100 Cardiology procedures. Applicants that are level 2 and 3 Cardiologist (Invasive or Interventional Cardiologist) must also include 50 cardiac catheterizations as primary operator during the past two years with satisfactory quality data (if applicable to practice).Eligibility Criteria for Initial Appointment:Physicians trained in Cardiology fellowship programs may have variable levels of expertise in a variety of different areas, depending on the focus of their particular training experience. The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has defined the education, training, and experience necessary for many of these areas. The ACC 2008 Recommendations for Training in Adult Cardiovascular Medicine Core Cardiology Training (COCATS3) published January 22, 2008 are available at www.acc.org and was used as the foundation for the privileges in Cardiology. Additional information was obtained from the ACGME Program Requirements for Fellowship Education available at www.acgme.org and the Clinical Privilege White paper on Cardiology. Additional resources were used for procedures that cross specialty lines.
Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Internal Medicine residency program and completion of a fellowship in Cardiology accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in the residency. The Credentials Committee; Physician Executive or Medical Affairs Committee; and the Board of Directors or the Board of Governors may consider training at residency or fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than the above.Certification by the appropriate specialty /subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable. Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement. (Refer to each entity's policy for grandfather exceptions)Level 1 (Cardiology) - Providers who will practice noninvasive cardiology and whose invasive activities will be confined to critical care unit procedures. Basic training required of all trainees to be competent consultant cardiologists.Level 2 (Invasive Cardiology) - Providers who will practice diagnostic but not interventional cardiac catheterization. Additional training in one or more specialized areas that enables the cardiologist to perform or interpret (or both) specific procedures at an intermediate skill level or engage in rendering cardiovascular care in specialized areas.Level 3 (Interventional Cardiology) - Providers who will practice diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization. Advanced training in a specialized area that enables a cardiologist to perform, interpret, and train others to perform and interpret specific procedures at a high skill level. (Please refer to Interventional Core Privilege definition of clinical information for further information)Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications, criteria, and scope of practice, if variation between documents exists.
