Job description

Description
The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, Section of Cardiac Surgery, seeks Clinical Associates at 100% effort for renewable terms of up to three years. Clinical responsibilities include independent call, inpatient rounding on LVAD patients, and supporting all Cardiac Surgery programs at the Hyde Park campus and affiliated offsite community practices and partner locations. Programs include CT Transplant, Procurement, and ECMO. These positions do not require teaching or scholarly activity. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent upon qualifications. This position is benefits-eligible. Appointees will contribute to patient care and join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners at UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates. The University of Chicago Medicine has been at the forefront of medical care since 1927. Located in historic Hyde Park, the primary medical campus includes the Center for Care and Discovery, Comer Children's Hospital, Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital for adult inpatient care, and the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) totaling more than 550 beds in service and net patient care revenues over $1.4 billion.
The University of Chicago Heart & Vascular Center has nationally recognized research and education programs that build on collaborations throughout the University and is active in clinical operations and quality improvement in the Medical Center.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois and the State of Indiana, 3) be board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or equivalent, and 4) have completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship and/or equivalent training in cardiovascular/thoracic (CVT) surgery.
