Job description

LanceSoft is seeking a travel nurse RN Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Hilo, Hawaii.

Job Description & Requirements

Patient Assessment and Monitoring
  • Perform comprehensive cardiovascular assessments.
  • Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation, and hemodynamic status.
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, including cardiac emergencies.
Direct Patient Care
  • Care for patients with cardiac conditions such as heart failure, myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, and post-cardiac surgery recovery.
  • Administer medications, including cardiac drips and anticoagulants, as prescribed.
  • Manage intravenous lines, central lines, chest tubes, and other specialized equipment.
Cardiac Monitoring
  • Interpret telemetry and ECG rhythms.
  • Identify abnormal cardiac rhythms and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborate with physicians and rapid response teams during emergencies.
Treatment and Procedures
  • Assist with pre- and post-procedural care for cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker insertions, and other cardiovascular procedures.
  • Monitor patients recovering from open-heart surgery or other cardiac interventions.
  • Perform wound care and manage surgical incisions when applicable.
Patient Education
  • Educate patients and families on cardiac disease management, medications, diet, exercise, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Provide discharge instructions and ensure understanding of follow-up care.
Care Coordination
  • Collaborate with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and case managers.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and care planning.
  • Coordinate patient transfers and discharge planning.
Documentation and Compliance
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records.
  • Document assessments, interventions, medication administration, and patient responses.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Emergency Response
  • Respond to cardiac arrests and medical emergencies.
  • Participate in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) interventions.
  • Operate emergency equipment such as defibrillators and crash carts.
