Job Description
Job Summary:
The Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse is responsible for providing specialized care to patients with cardiac conditions transitioning from intensive care or other acute settings. The role involves monitoring cardiac patients, managing medication administration, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
  • Administer cardiac medications including drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, and Nitroglycerin.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and overall clinical status closely using advanced telemetry.
  • Manage patient care for adults to geriatrics with conditions like arrhythmias, CHF, chest pain, post-cardiac catheterizations, and other cardiac or surgical cases.
  • Respond promptly to emergent situations including arrhythmia management, cardioversion, and other acute cardiac events.
  • Document all patient care activities accurately in the electronic health record system (Epic preferred).
  • Participate in patient education, discharge planning, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams within the overflow IMCU environment.
Qualifications:
  • Valid RN license for Georgia or a Compact state at the time of submission.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience managing continuous IV medications in a cardiac or telemetry setting.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
  • Knowledge of arrhythmia interpretation, cardiac protocols, and telemetry systems.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with a patient ratio of 1:5-6.
  • Basic understanding of common surgical and vascular patient needs.
