These nurses monitor and treat individuals recovering from heart surgeries, heart attacks, or suffering from severe cardiac illnesses. They work with advanced medical equipment, administer medications, and collaborate closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals. Their role is essential in providing life-saving care and supporting patients and their families during critical times.

To thrive as a Cardiac ICU nurse, you need advanced cardiac care knowledge, strong critical thinking abilities, and an active RN license, often with a BSN and certifications like CCRN. Familiarity with cardiac monitoring equipment, ventilators, and electronic health record (EHR) systems is essential. Exceptional communication, resilience under pressure, and teamwork skills help you navigate complex care situations and support patients and families.
