Work is located in Newport News, VAJob Opportunity for Pulse/Spray Welders
Available positions for Pulse/Spray Welders in Virginia. The compensation range is $38.00 to $45.00 per hour, in addition to a per diem of $120.00, contingent upon the specific location.
Qualifications and Required Skills
Applicants must possess a minimum of four years of naval shipyard experience as a first-class Welder. The following skills are required:
- Welding Techniques:ย Proficiency in multi-pass, all position fillet and butt welds utilizing the following processes: SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding), and GMAW-P (Pulse Arc Welding).
- Heating Equipment:ย Experience with Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch.
- Physical Demands:ย Capability to work in a physically demanding environment, including shipboard settings, sub-assemblies, ladders, and staging.
- Regulatory Knowledge:ย Familiarity with OSHA regulations pertinent to the shipbuilding industry.
- Gouging Skills:ย Proficiency in Air Carbon Arc Gouging.
- Welding Gauges:ย Ability to effectively utilize fillet and butt weld gauges.
Welding Qualification
All Welders are required to successfully complete all positions of Multi-pass Butt Weld Welder Qualification Tests prior to commencing productive work. These assessments will adhere to MIL-STD-248D Paragraph 5.3.3 and include the following:
- All position (Horizontal (2G), Vertical (3G), and Overhead (4G)) SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) process.
- All position (Horizontal (2G), Vertical (3G), and Overhead (4G)) FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) process.
- Horizontal (2G) position GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) process.
- All position (Horizontal (2G), Vertical (3G), and Overhead (4G)) GMAW-P (Pulse Arc Welding) process.
- Air Carbon Arc Gouging proficiency test.
