Work Schedule: 30 hours per week (flexible schedule includes some weekends and evenings)
Position Introduction:
Job Description: The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art is looking for an ambitious individual to assist the Manager of Retail and Rentals as a key player in the daily operations of our gift and coffee shop, Cup of Jones and in the preparation of venue rentals that are hosted at the museum. At the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, we work together as a small and expert community of staff, closely guided by our values: clarity, respect, accountability, perseverance and courage. Under the direction of the Manager of Retail and Rentals, the candidate will carry out the following duties:
Retail Duties:
  • Assist customers with purchases
  • Operate a point-of-sale system
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization on the store floor and in the stockroom
  • Assist with inventory tracking, stocking, and rotation
  • Perform quality control checks on merchandise
  • Maintain detailed, organized files for store operations in Microsoft Teams

Rental Duties
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of rental events in collaboration with the Manager of Retail and Rentals
  • Communicate with clients in a timely and professional manner and maintain detailed client records
  • Assist with the organization and set-up of special events (includes arranging tables, chairs, décor, and equipment)
  • Attend special events as needed
  • Assist with breakdown of special events
  • Help maintain organization and cleanliness in rental spaces (catering kitchen and supply storage)
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all rental supplies, including furniture, décor, linens, and A/V equipment

Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Customer-oriented and professional attitude
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work as part of a team, as well as independently
  • Organized and detail oriented
