Job Description
The Used Car Buyer will have a primary responsibility of executing a process which involves prospecting, appraising, and presenting offers to current vehicle owners with the goal of purchasing their vehicles from multiple sources for resale.
Salary: $22 / hour plus commission, based on performance
On-Target Earnings: $60000 - $80000 / year
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for calling, following up and scheduling appointments for customers to come in and appraise and purchase their used vehicles.
  • Utilize CRM for prospecting and lead generation.
  • Interface with current used vehicle owners from appointments set and dealership service drive with the purpose of purchasing their vehicle.
  • Approach, greet, and engage with dealership customers to appraise and offer to purchase their current vehicles.
  • Appraise used vehicles by asking questions, taking pictures of the vehicles, and inputting vehicle data into Sonic's automated inventory management system.
  • Work with Sales Managers to build and propose an offer to seller.
  • Introduces guest to sales department personnel to sell them a new vehicle after purchase of their existing vehicle.
  • Review monthly goals with management on vehicles purchased to better utilize time and plans more effectively.

Qualifications
Preferred:
  • At least 2-3 years in a Used Car Buyer role in a dealership setting, or vehicle procurement in the automotive rental industry.
  • High level of customer service and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Professional personal appearance.
  • Ability to meet company's production and quality standards.
  • Outstanding Computer skills required.

Required:
  • All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA.
  • All applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and valid driver license.

The position also may also pay a production bonus based on individual or team performance that may range from $0.00 (if baseline benchmarks are not met) without any fixed upper limit.)
