Car Inventory information

What does a car inventory specialist do?

A Car Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing and tracking the vehicles available at a dealership or car lot. Their duties include maintaining accurate records of incoming and outgoing vehicles, ensuring all cars are properly documented, and coordinating with sales staff to keep inventory information up-to-date. They may also inspect vehicles for quality, handle paperwork related to titles and registrations, and help organize the lot for easy access and display. This role is essential for ensuring the dealership runs smoothly and customers have access to the correct information about available cars.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in car inventory management, and why are they important?

To excel in Car Inventory Management, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a basic understanding of automotive products, often supported by experience in inventory or dealership operations. Familiarity with dealership management systems (DMS), inventory tracking software, and sometimes a valid driver’s license are typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving ability, and adaptability help you coordinate with sales teams and efficiently resolve discrepancies. These skills ensure accurate inventory records, minimize losses, and support smooth dealership operations.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals managing car inventory, and how can they be addressed?

Car inventory professionals often face challenges such as tracking real-time vehicle availability, managing aging inventory, and coordinating with sales and service departments. Staying organized and leveraging digital inventory management systems can help maintain accurate records and improve efficiency. Regular communication with team members and periodic audits also help address discrepancies and ensure vehicles are ready for sale or service. Embracing these practices can reduce errors and streamline operations within the dealership or automotive organization.

Job description

Need Something New?

If you are tired of being stuck in a dead-end job and have always wanted a position that travels, Advanced Inventory Solutions (AIS) has you covered!

As an employee at AIS, you will work in different gas stations within a large service area. Our inventory counters are critical in helping underserved regional clients.

The Job

A difference in scenery makes the gas station inventory associate position unique. Not only do we work in multiple locations each week, we travel to different cities too. Our inventory counters utilize handheld scanning equipment to complete an inventory count, so gas stations can have an accurate and updated report detailing their current inventory.

You will work alone and be responsible for all field operations as well as administrative responsibilities such as scheduling and travel, writing reports, and working with store managers. Each day is different and requires travel to various gas stations, some of which may be far enough away to require overnight stays. Expect 50-75% of the month to include overnight travel.

The Culture

The people who shop at our customers' stores come from a variety of backgrounds. We believe our team members should as well. Our counters consist of those who have struggled to fit in at other jobs and want that second chance to prove themselves.

Our inventory counters find success when operating with no micromanagement, essentially becoming their own managers, taking responsibility for multiple tasks to help ensure a professional count is completed. You have the freedom to work alone, drive what car you like, and set your schedule within each quarter.

You are your own boss!
