Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Team Leader plays a vital role in leading a team of hourly associates on the golf car assembly line. This position ensures that safety, quality, and production goals are consistently met while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Team Leader is responsible for coordinating daily activities, resolving line obstacles, and driving performance against key metrics such as takt time attainment, first-pass yield, schedule attainment, and safety compliance

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and coordinate a team of assembly associates to meet daily production targets and takt time requirements.

Monitor and maintain adherence to safety protocols, ensuring zero recordable incidents and promoting a safety-first culture.

Ensure product quality by supporting first-pass yield goals and minimizing rework or defects.

Identify and resolve production obstacles such as material shortages, equipment issues, or staffing gaps to maintain line flow to achieve daily rate targets/takt time.

Communicate effectively with salaried supervisors regarding production status, issues, and improvement opportunities.

Support and implement continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Lean practices).

Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to team members.

Assist with shift start-up (15 minutes prior to shift start), changeovers, and end-of-shift reporting, including KPI tracking.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS(KPIs)

Safety: Zero OSHA recordables, near-miss reporting, PPE compliance.

Quality: First-pass yield, defect rate, rework incidents.

Productivity: Takt time adherence, units per hour, downtime reduction.

Team Engagement: Training completion, attendance, participation in improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.

2+ years of experience in manufacturing or assembly, preferably in automotive or powersports.

Demonstrated leadership ability and effective communication skills.

Familiarity with hand tools, torque wrenches, pneumatic systems, and basic electrical components.

Basic understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.

Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with attention to detail.

2-3 years of front line leadership of groups of 15-25 hourly employees with a hands on approach

WORK CONDITIONS

Standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.

Exposure to moving equipment, moderate noise, and seasonal temperature changes.

May require overtime, weekend, or holiday shifts based on production needs.
