We are hiring a Full time, Permanent Senior Analyst, Capital Assets position working out of Hugh J Bolton Service Center in Edmonton, Alberta.

Senior Analyst, Capital Assets is responsible for providing financial analysis, reporting, and advisory support for EPCOR's capital projects and programs. Working closely with project managers, business leaders, and the Project Management Office, this role supports informed decision-making through variance analysis, forecasting, capital accounting, and regulatory reporting while ensuring compliance with financial policies, controls, and reporting requirements. Success in this role is measured by the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, effective business partnership, and continuous improvement of capital asset processes

What you’d be responsible for

• Provide input to the BU Capital Assets plans and directions and ensure on-going appropriate relationships with other positions.
• Ensure the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics. Plan, co-ordinate, and provide complete, accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual variance analysis for assigned projects through working with project managers.  Demonstrate understanding of assigned capital projects through variance analysis, accruals and financial analysis.
• Review Capital Assets processes to ensure compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and ensure mitigation of risks.  Assess internal controls to ensure adequacy and compliance with Canadian Sarbanes-Oxley processes. 
• Provide customer-focused financial support and analysis related to capital projects by working closely with the BU Project Management Office and project managers.
• Provide system support and administration of the Oracle Fixed Assets, Oracle Projects, Adaptive, and other related systems, including participating in the development and testing of system upgrades.
• Analyze financial information and prepare journal vouchers with supporting source documentation as required.
• Reconcile and analyze assigned account reconciliations for omissions, posting or classification errors.
• Co-ordinate and complete year-end reporting and analysis including supporting audit documentation and internal and external audit queries as well as regulatory reporting as required.
• For projects funded by grants, understand the terms and conditions of the grant, co-ordinate reporting requirements, and complete any supplemental financial analysis or schedules required. 
• Develop an understanding of the key differences in accounting treatment of capital related items under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Regulatory filings.  Process differences in the regulatory set of books.
• Support continuous improvement by developing and implementing process improvements in the Capital Assets area.
• Support annual budget process and regulatory filings as required, including variance analysis, presentation materials, and assisting with Information Requests (IRs).
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.  Informally support less experienced team members.
• Demonstrate a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working.

What’s required to be successful

• Post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• Professional Accounting designation (CPA) required.
• Minimum 4-6 years of progressively responsible accounting and financial analysis experience, preferably supporting capital projects or asset-intensive operations.
• Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and their application in a corporate environment.
• Understanding of EPCOR's financial processes and internal controls is considered an asset.
• Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial information and provide actionable recommendations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and contribute effectively within a collaborative team environment.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a results-oriented approach.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organization.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
• Experience with Oracle financial systems, including Fixed Assets and Projects modules, is considered an asset

Wage: Starting at 53.92

• Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
