Job description

*This position is for 2nd shift only; Tuesday - Friday 4:15pm - 2:45 am*

Arning Companies, a leading canopy manufacturer serving commercial, retail, and industrial markets, is seeking a 2nd Shift Weld Shop Lead to oversee daily operations of our weld department. This role is responsible for leading the weld team, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and supporting efficient production of high-quality canopy structures. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who sets the standard through craftsmanship, teamwork, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead by example while training team members in all aspects of weld shop operations

  • Enforce safety, quality, and productivity standards across the department

  • Review and approve welding procedures to ensure compliance with specifications

  • Verify welder qualifications and welding procedure certifications

  • Review welding specifications and job requirements before production begins

  • Ensure proper equipment, materials, and techniques are used for each weld

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication details

  • Perform welding and fabrication according to engineering drawings

  • Inspect completed welds and fabricated components for quality and accuracy

  • Design and build jigs and fixtures to support efficient production

  • Monitor and maintain accurate work order and production documentation

  • Maintain welding equipment and coordinate maintenance when needed

  • Perform other duties as required and support overall production operations

Qualifications
  • Previous MIG welding experience required

  • Strong understanding of measuring tools and weld inspection instruments

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings

  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

  • Physically capable of performing welding and fabrication duties in a manufacturing environment
