The Job

Welcome to FAO Schweetz, where you'll find a carefully curated selection of candies, chocolates, and confections to satisfy every sweet craving – all located right inside the FAO Schwarz Flagship Store!

The FAO Schweetz Associate is a candy enthusiast, responsible for ensuring guests have a fun, memorable experience as they browse their favorite candies and confections. This role covers many functions across the department, including selling, merchandising, and monitoring and maintaining stock levels.

We pride ourselves on delivering an exceptional guest experience in a welcoming, energetic environment. As part of our team, you'll be at the heart of creating that experience, ensuring every customer leaves with a smile and a little sweetness in hand.

What You’ll Do

Guest

  • Be the go-to representative for FAO Schweetz and partner with leadership to escalate concerns or issues within your department.
  • Handle POS transactions, adhering to policies and procedures to accurately process each transaction for the guest.
  • Build authentic connections with guests to build rapport and relationships during their visit, at times handling multiple guests simultaneously.
  • Be able to adapt your style to engage both children and adults as they visit us in the store.
  • Demonstrate great selling techniques to meet or exceed sales goals and KPIs.
  • Ensure stock and cleanliness levels are maintained to a high standard to ensure a positive, safe guest experience.

Team

  • Make recommendations to evolve and innovate the department to excite our guests.
  • Share expertise with colleagues to help elevate experiences for our guests.
  • Be able to flex outside the department as needed to support the wider store team.

Store

  • Demonstrate a depth of product knowledge in FAO Schweetz and general knowledge of the store at large.
  • Maintain a good understanding of store layout and the local area to be able to effectively and accurately handle guest queries.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of merchandising principles in order to maintain the department layout and planograms
  • Maintain a strong understanding of inventory levels in your areas and support with stock refilling, visual displays, and other product tasks as needed.
  • Complete daily assigned administrative tasks to ensure all supplies and products are available to fulfill sales.
  • Escalate any maintenance issues that may prevent delivering a positive guest experience as planned.
  • Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety, food handling, loss prevention, and emergency procedures.

What You Have

  • 1+ year experience in a fast-paced premium candy retail or experience-based environment preferred.
  • A love of the FAO brand and a fondness for sweet treats.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal ability.
  • Flexible availability in line with a Flagship Retail environment across days, evenings and weekends.
  • Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds, and bending, twisting, and standing for long periods of time.
