Job description

Job Title: Logistics Coordinator III
Job Type: Hybrid (Must be in the office 2 days a week)
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina 28217
Duration: 6 Month

Shift Timing: Mon to Fri (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM)
Interview Process: Virtual (Conducted on Eastern Time)

Summary:

  • We are currently seeking to hire an International Logistics & Trade Specialist. who will create and manage a international logistics and trade compliance program by developing robust processes and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with U.S. & Canada regulatory requirements and corporate trade compliance policies. The International Logistics & Trade Specialist will work across operational management as a team player to ensure compliance throughout the business unit.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

Trade Operations

  • Maintain all U.S., Canadian trade compliance work instructions and procedures policies.
  • Ensure all U.S. and Canadian sites comply with applicable regulatory requirements and Trade Compliance Policy.
  • Provide trade compliance training to U.S. and Canadian site employees specifically on U.S. & Canadian export controls, import controls, company policies and procedures.
  • Work with the site Operations & Logistics Managers to drive import/export process controls where practical.
  • Determine correct HTS and ECCN classification for all article additions.
  • Work with U.S. and Canadian business locations in maintaining the site Master Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Export Administration Regulation (ECCN) listing for all imported and exported U.S. and Canadian articles, assemblies, and systems. Includes periodic updating of site ERP systems as applicable.
  • Maintain knowledge of key U.S. and Canadian trade compliance regulations
  • Responsible for maintaining all U.S. and Canadian import / export records as applicable
  • Liaison directly with Corporate Trade Compliance on any communications from U.S. and Canadian Customs and perform other duties associated with trade compliance as may be required
  • Post Audit and review of import and export documentation to ensure compliance with policy and U.S. & Canadian government import and export regulations. Initiate corrections with customs brokers and freight forwarders as applicable
  • Pull reports from U.S., Canadian and Customs Broker systems and conduct analysis to monitor risk and compliance (e.g., tariff classification, country of origin, use of free trade agreements, etc.).
  • Manage the process and recordkeeping for various duty mitigation programs e.g. duty drawback

Logistics Operations

  • Arrange and track international shipments (air, ocean, rail, and trucking).
  • Select carriers and manage freight bookings.
  • Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and customs requirements.
  • Prepare and review shipping documents (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bills of lading, etc.).
  • Provide logistics support for engineering, field service and sales offices. Troubleshoot and follow up on all reported problems with freight forwarder and customs broker
  • Provide real-time updates on shipment status to internal teams and customers.
  • Resolve issues such as shipment delays, damages, or customs holds.
  • Prepare logistics performance reports for management.
  • Work on continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives, like consolidating shipments or optimizing trade routes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preference given to candidates with a degree in Logistics or a related field
  • 3-5 years’ experience in logistics, freight forwarding or Custom Broker operations
  • Knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Classification
  • Knowledge of ECCN Classification
  • Ability to function both as a team and individual player with the ability to shift priorities as required by the Americas trade compliance team and business operations.
  • Strong organizational, prioritizing and planning skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Positive, team-oriented approach.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft programs

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility

Work Environment:

  • Office: Standard office equipment; work usually performed in an office setting free from any disagreeable elements.
  • Standard weekly job hours: 40 hours
  • Travel: Less than 10% within the US for training / meetings
