Job description

Job Summary

The Campus Security Officer provides security and safety support for the Dallas campus.

Compensation

  • Regular shift: $16.80 per hour
  • Midnight shift: $18.30 per hour (includes shift differential)
 
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Patrol campus, check buildings, residential facilities, and parking lots; identify and address unauthorized individuals.
  • Interact with people.
  • Provide an armed, visible security presence on Campus.
  • Issue parking decals, perform computer work, and complete administrative tasks.
  • Investigate incidents, write reports, and respond to calls for service.
  • Respond to calls for service
  • Observe and report safety issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to analyze situations quickly, make sound decisions, and function effectively in stressful environments.
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible schedule with willingness to work alone and serve as a self-starter.
  • Ability to follow directions while exercising good judgment.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Texas Level 3 (Commissioned) Armed Security Officer license (requires successful completion of required Level 2 and Level 3 training through a Texas DPS-approved provider)

Education and Experience:

  • A college degree preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb, walk, balance, kneel, reach, lift up to 50 pounds, talk, and hear.
  • Comfort working in varying outside weather conditions, including during inclement weather when other officers may be unable to reach campus.
