Job description

Camp Maintenance supports daily camp operations by performing facility maintenance, basic repairs, construction tasks, waste handling, fueling, and general upkeep to ensure a safe, functional remote camp environment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESSafetyExercise stop-work authority when necessaryComplete Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments for each jobParticipate in daily tool box meetings and weekly safety meetingsWork with coworkers to identify hazards in daily tasksFollow site safety procedures when performing tasksAdhere to the company's hazardous communications program for on-site hazardous chemicalsMaintenanceWork cooperatively and productively with the maintenance teamPrepare cargo for safe transport via planeEnsure the camp facilities are in good state of repair by performing basic repairs and maintenance Segregate garbage and incinerate or place in landfill as needed throughout the dayFuel vehicles, generators, heaters and other equipment utilizing company proceduresComplete daily inspections, maintenance and fuel logsAssist with the care and maintenance of wastewater systemTransport passengers to and from their work areas, if necessaryEnsure tools and equipment are in good operating orderPerform other duties as assignedConstructionSet up tents bases and framesAssist with carpentry projects, such as building stairs and railingsCommunicationReport all safety, environmental and security incidents to site management immediately QUALFICATIONSLevel 1 - most duties and tasks are performed under supervisionEducation and TrainingWastewater Operator Level 1 is an assetValid driver license preferred, but not requiredExperienceExperience and training in carpentry and plumbing an assetPrevious camp or facilities maintenance experience preferredKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to work effectively in a team settingKnowledge of basic maintenance and repair techniques and proper use of toolsKnowledge of operating incinerators is an assetLevel 2Education and TrainingWastewater Operator Level 1 is an assetValid driver license preferredExperience and training in carpentry or plumbing requiredExperienceAt least one season of previous camp or facilities maintenance experience requiredKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to work effectively in a team settingProficient in basic maintenance and repair techniques and proper use of toolsExperience operating incinerators is an assetLevel 3 - Enhanced duties and responsibilities, including performing inspections and weekly reportingEducation and TrainingWastewater Operator Level 1 is strongly preferredValid driver license required Experience and training (certification or diploma) in carpentry or plumbing requiredExperience3-5 seasons of previous camp or facilities maintenance experience requiredKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to work effectively in a team settingProficient in basic maintenance and repair techniques and proper use of toolsExperience operating incinerators is an assetAll levelsAbility to work safely and follow company safety procedures and policiesAbility to be flexible and adaptable to changeAbility to follow verbal and written instructions effectively and in a timely mannerAbility to read and interpret labels, instruction manuals and Safety Data Sheets as well as to record daily notes and shared logsAbility to perform heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Ability to work for long periods in a remote location with exposure to inclement weather including snow, rain, wind as well as extremely warm or cold conditions.This is a seasonal position, expected to work April to October, with a rotational schedule.
