We are partnering with a fast-growing, venture-backed technology company building industrial automation and computer vision systems for manufacturing customers.

They are seeking a Software Integration Engineer to integrate industrial cameras into production software pipelines and expand the platform's capabilities across device management, image acquisition, industrial networking, and factory equipment.

This person will work across camera hardware, Python-based software, backend services, and customer systems to ensure reliable deployment and operation in real-world manufacturing environments.

This is a high-impact role with significant ownership across software integration, industrial imaging, hardware configuration, and factory-floor deployment.

What You'll Do

  • Integrate industrial camera capture into production software pipelines
  • Develop and maintain camera SDK integrations using GenICam and Basler Pylon
  • Build Python-based tools and services supporting image capture, device configuration, and system monitoring
  • Configure area-scan and line-scan cameras for industrial applications
  • Troubleshoot latency, dropped frames, synchronization, triggering, and image acquisition issues
  • Optimize camera parameters including exposure, gain, frame rate, triggering, and lighting synchronization
  • Partner with software and computer vision engineers on new hardware and imaging capabilities
  • Contribute to backend services supporting device management and production monitoring
  • Integrate cameras, sensors, and other industrial devices with customer systems
  • Develop communication interfaces using GigE Vision, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA, and similar protocols
  • Support deployment, commissioning, testing, and validation in manufacturing environments
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and deployment procedures

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 2 or more years of hands-on experience integrating industrial cameras in manufacturing or automation environments
  • 2 or more years of Python programming experience
  • Experience developing or maintaining integrations with camera SDKs
  • Experience with Basler cameras and the Pylon SDK or Pylon API
  • Experience with GenICam and GigE Vision
  • Experience configuring area-scan or line-scan camera systems
  • Experience troubleshooting image acquisition, latency, synchronization, triggering, and frame-drop issues
  • Familiarity with industrial networking protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA, or Profinet
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across software, cameras, networking, and industrial hardware
  • Ability to independently own projects and collaborate with customers and cross-functional engineering teams

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience developing production software in Python, C++, or C#
  • Experience with OpenCV or other image-processing libraries
  • Experience with Basler, Cognex, Keyence, SICK, Teledyne FLIR, Allied Vision, IDS, Pleora, or similar industrial vision platforms
  • Experience selecting and configuring lenses, optics, lighting, and strobes
  • Linux experience
  • Experience building backend services, APIs, SDK integrations, or device-management tools
  • Experience commissioning and supporting systems in manufacturing facilities
  • Manufacturing, robotics, automotive, life sciences, material handling, or industrial automation experience

Nice to Have

  • PLC programming or equipment integration experience
  • Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff, Omron, or similar PLC platforms
  • Experience configuring or supporting SCADA systems
  • Experience with Ignition, FactoryTalk, WinCC, AVEVA, or similar SCADA platforms
  • Experience with SQL, REST APIs, data collection, dashboards, or production-monitoring systems
  • Experience with factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, commissioning, and production support
  • Experience working in a startup or fast-paced engineering environment

Why Join?

  • High-impact role with meaningful ownership
  • Work across software, industrial cameras, hardware, and machine vision
  • Remote flexibility or the option to work hybrid in the Greater Boston area
  • Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits
