What is a camera monitoring operator?

Camera monitoring operators are professionals responsible for observing surveillance footage from security cameras to detect and respond to suspicious or unauthorized activities. They typically work in settings such as security control rooms, public spaces, or private facilities, ensuring safety and security by alerting authorities or taking appropriate action when necessary. Their duties may also include recording incidents, maintaining logs, and ensuring that all equipment is functioning properly. Camera monitoring operators play a critical role in crime prevention and asset protection.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a camera monitoring operator?

To thrive as a Camera Monitoring Operator, you need keen attention to detail, situational awareness, and familiarity with security protocols, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Proficiency in using CCTV systems, video surveillance software, and incident reporting tools is typically required. Strong observational skills, reliability, and effective communication help individuals excel in this role. These abilities are crucial for maintaining safety, quickly identifying security threats, and ensuring accurate reporting in monitored environments.

What are some common challenges faced in a camera monitoring role, and how can they be managed effectively?

One common challenge in a Camera Monitoring role is maintaining constant vigilance during long shifts, as attention fatigue can lead to missed incidents. To manage this, many employers encourage regular breaks and use rotation schedules to keep team members alert. Another challenge is accurately interpreting footage, especially in low-light or high-traffic environments; ongoing training and clear communication protocols help ensure accurate reporting. Collaborating closely with security personnel and supervisors also helps address incidents swiftly and maintain a secure environment.

Job description

Description

EyeQ Monitoring is a fast-growing leader in AI-driven remote video monitoring, delivering real-time security, operational intelligence, and business visibility across industries like automotive, multifamily, commercial real estate, construction, and retail.

Our solutions combine live monitoring, IoT-enabled camera technology, intelligent deterrence, and investigative support to help customers protect their properties, reduce risk, and make smarter business decisions. As we continue to grow, we are looking for team members who are excited to help build scalable, thoughtful, and customer-focused solutions that make a real impact.

The Product Marketing Manager will own the go-to-market motion for EyeQ Monitoring's product portfolio, including Virtual Guard, License Plate Management, Forensics, Case Management, and vertical-specific product features.

This role sits at the center of Product, Sales, and Marketing, helping translate technical product capabilities into clear, compelling messaging that resonates with customers and equips our revenue team to win. The right person will be equal parts strategic thinker, strong writer, organized project manager, and market-curious problem solver.

You'll help drive product launches, build sales enablement materials, sharpen our positioning, and keep a clear pulse on where EyeQ sits in the competitive landscape.

At EyeQ, our values guide how we work, how we partner, and how we grow.

We value trusted partnerships.

We show up with integrity, communicate clearly, and build strong relationships with our customers, teammates, and partners.

We build to last.

We care about creating solutions, processes, and partnerships that are sustainable, scalable, and built with long-term success in mind.

We take the hill.

We move with urgency, ownership, and accountability. We are not afraid of hard things, and we work together to get them done.

We enjoy the journey.

We believe growth should be challenging, meaningful, and energizing. We celebrate wins, support each other, and stay connected to the purpose behind the work.

What You'll Do

  • Own the end-to-end project management of product launches, from pre-launch planning through launch execution and post-launch measurement.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to keep launch timelines, deliverables, and communication on track.
  • Develop positioning and messaging for new and existing products across EyeQ's IoT and camera-based solution suite.
  • Tailor messaging to key customer verticals, including auto dealerships, multifamily, and commercial real estate.
  • Build and support sales enablement materials, including pitch decks, one-pagers, battle cards, product briefs, and competitive comparison sheets.
  • Monitor the competitive landscape across physical security, remote video monitoring, IoT, and adjacent technology spaces.
  • Track competitor product launches, feature releases, pricing changes, and positioning shifts.
  • Translate competitive insights into actionable takeaways for Sales, Product, and Marketing.
  • Gather feedback from Sales and customers to better understand customer needs, objections, buying triggers, and product-market fit.
  • Synthesize feedback into useful insights that support messaging, launch priorities, and product roadmap conversations.
  • Help create consistency in how EyeQ talks about its products internally and externally.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in product marketing, product management, or a closely related go-to-market role.
  • Experience owning or supporting product launches from planning through execution.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to turn complex product capabilities into clear, customer-facing value.
  • Experience creating messaging, positioning, sales enablement content, or competitive intelligence materials.
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with Product, Sales, Marketing, and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong project management instincts and the ability to keep launches moving without needing to be chased.
  • A naturally curious mindset around the market, the customer, the buyer, and the competitive landscape.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, nimble environment where priorities can shift based on launches, customer needs, or business priorities.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to influence without owning every lever.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in B2B technology, IoT, physical security, PropTech, remote video monitoring, or another technical product environment.
  • Familiarity with how camera-based, IoT, process intelligence, operational intelligence, or physical security products are sold and deployed.
  • Experience building or maintaining competitive intelligence programs.
  • Familiarity with product launch frameworks and go-to-market best practices.
  • Experience developing sales enablement content for revenue teams.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Standard full-time business hours, with flexibility around key launch windows and major product releases.
  • Ability to travel approximately 5-10% for industry events, customer visits, and team off-sites.
  • No specific licenses or certifications are required.
