Job description

Homeland Safety Systems, is a rapidly expanding and ever-changing company with a core focus in industrial and commercial security consulting, design, engineering, and installation of access control, CCTV, and communication equipment for high end, complex electronic security systems. We currently serve throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Texas.

We are seeking a skilled Installation Technician with 2+ years of experience to join our team and assist in the installation of electronic control systems for both new and existing customers. This role will also involve providing top-notch service and maintenance on all installed Homeland security solutions, including door access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and communication systems. We're looking for a candidate with a proven track record of success in this field who can help us deliver unparalleled support to our customers.

This position is based out of our Shreveport, Louisiana office.

In this role you will...

  • Efficiently install and service all Homeland security solutions using installation folders and maps.
  • Perform necessary installations and services, including running electrical wiring in crawl spaces, drilling, trenching, and related tasks while leading a team.
  • Connect control panels, install security software, perform wire concealment, and ensure application requirements are met.
  • Conduct site inspections and review work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to verify materials requirements and proper installation procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance of installed equipment
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues effectively.
  • Train customers on software and equipment usage and navigation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all work performed and equipment used, following established policies.
  • Coordinate work efforts with the Operations staff and other technicians while building strong relationships with customers.
  • Build and maintain positive rapport with customers.
  • Complete Daily Project Reports.
  • Keep informed of new products and developments
  • Perform a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
  • Manage a technician crew and job site when required.
  • Maintain client privacy and confidentiality.

  • The ability to travel up to 60% for the role.
  • Prior experience in low voltage and access control with at least 2 yrs of prior team lead experience.
  • Clean background check.
  • Ability to pass a state and federal background check to obtain industry licenses and security clearance
  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug screens (Required by State Law)
  • Flexible schedule. Must be available for nights/weekend work, as well as out of town – overnight travel, as needed
  • Current driver's license and clean driving record (MVR)
  • Possess or be able to obtain proper state licensing once hired
  • A working knowledge and understanding of electronics
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail
  • Possess a dedication to working in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess excellent time management, planning, and forward-thinking skills
  • Possess excellent telephone etiquette, communication, and listening skills

  • Operate hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading and understanding electrical schematics, site maps and drawings, and related documents associated with the installation and service of security systems
  • Present a professional image both in personal and vehicle appearance

  • Must be able to climb ladders and work on lifts as needed
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds

* Experience in one or more of the following Trades is preferred:

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair other electronic components, including board level work, relays, networking equipment, computer hardware, and other CCTV equipment (both network and analog)
  • Security Installation (possessing a LSFMA Security Endorsement)
  • Fire Alarm or other Life Safety field
  • Electrician Apprentice (90v +)
  • Network Administration (Certification not required, but training for CCNA, MCSE, etc.)
  • Other relevant electronics fields – experience in access control and camera installation preferred.
