Job description

Job Description – Access Control & Security Installation Technician

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Access Control & Security Installation Technician to support a new construction data center project. The technician will be responsible for the installation, wiring, and configuration of access control and CCTV systems, including panels, controllers, card readers, and IP cameras. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and wire access control panels, boards, and door controllers.
  • Mount and wire card readers, door contacts, request-to-exit devices, strikes, and mag locks.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, riser drawings, and device layout plans.
  • Program, assign IP addresses, and perform basic configuration on IP cameras.
  • Perform firmware upgrades/downgrades as required for camera deployment.
  • Mount, aim, and install cameras at designated locations throughout the data center.
  • Test, verify, and troubleshoot access control and camera installations.
  • Ensure neat and professional cabling (dressing, labeling, fire-stopping where needed).
  • Coordinate with site leads, general contractors, and project managers to ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Work safely in a construction environment and follow all site safety and security requirements.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in access control/security system installation (data center or commercial environment preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of wiring access control panels, boards, and devices.
  • Lenel experience highly preferred
  • Hands-on experience with IP camera installation, IP addressing, and basic network setup.
  • Ability to perform firmware updates/downgrades on security devices.
  • Familiarity with low-voltage wiring standards and best practices.
  • Ability to read and follow construction drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience working on new construction projects (data center experience highly preferred).
  • OSHA 10/30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs, work on ladders, and perform cabling overhead or in tight spaces.
  • Must pass background checks and comply with data center access requirements.
