Job description

First Call Security Innovations is seeking a reliable and motivated Installation Technician to join our field operations team. This position is responsible for the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and support of electronic security and low-voltage systems at commercial, institutional, and other assigned job sites.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The Installation Technician will work closely with Lead Technicians and other team members to complete projects safely, efficiently, and according to company and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Technical Work

  • Install, program, test, and troubleshoot electronic security systems, including:

    • CCTV/IP and analog camera systems

    • Access control systems

    • Intrusion detection systems

    • Structured cabling and fiber optic systems

  • Perform cable installation, pulling, termination, labeling, and routing.

  • Install and mount cameras, access control devices, security devices, and related equipment.

  • Assist with system setup, commissioning, testing, and final inspections.

  • Follow installation plans, blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.

  • Identify and assist in resolving installation and system-related issues.

  • Ensure completed installations meet company quality standards and project requirements.

Field Support

  • Work closely with Lead Technicians and other team members to complete projects on schedule.

  • Perform assigned installation tasks at various job sites.

  • Assist with troubleshooting, testing, and system commissioning.

  • Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in good condition.

  • Keep job sites clean, organized, and professional.

  • Safely operate tools and equipment required for assigned work.

Project Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned work accurately and efficiently.

  • Communicate project progress, job-site challenges, and other relevant updates to supervisors.

  • Follow project schedules and instructions provided by Lead Technicians and management.

  • Review and follow project plans, specifications, and installation requirements.

  • Assist with maintaining accurate project documentation when required.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies and job-site safety requirements.

  • Follow applicable OSHA requirements and established safety procedures.

  • Perform work in accordance with applicable NEC, NFPA, manufacturer specifications, and local codes.

  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality, and reliability.

  • Properly use required PPE and safety equipment.

  • Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or incidents to management promptly.

Professional Conduct

  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while representing First Call Security Innovations.

  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with customers, contractors, coworkers, and management.

  • Demonstrate reliability, accountability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.

  • Work cooperatively with Lead Technicians, project personnel, and other team members.

Qualifications

Required

  • Ability to perform hands-on installation work in a field environment.

  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to read and follow plans, drawings, and installation specifications.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Preferred

  • Previous experience installing electronic security or low-voltage systems.

  • Experience with CCTV/IP camera systems.

  • Experience with access control systems.

  • Experience with intrusion detection systems.

  • Experience with structured cabling or fiber optics.

  • Previous commercial construction or low-voltage installation experience.

  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, manufacturer specifications, or applicable local codes.

Physical & Job-Site Requirements

This is a hands-on field position and requires the ability to perform physical installation work, which may include:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.

  • Working from ladders and lifts when required.

  • Working above ceilings and in other elevated or confined areas.

  • Bending, kneeling, reaching, and working in various positions.

  • Lifting, carrying, and positioning tools, cable, equipment, and materials.

  • Working in active construction and commercial job-site environments.

  • Traveling to assigned job sites as required.
