Job description

Lead QC Inspector (Precision Machining):

We are hiring a skilled Lead QC Inspector to oversee inspection operations in a precision machining environment and ensure machined components meet customer specifications, engineering requirements, and ISO 9001 quality standards. This leadership role supports inspection teams, drives continuous improvement, and helps maintain product quality and release readiness.
Key Responsibilities:

Inspection Leadership & Daily Execution:
  • Lead and coordinate receiving, in-process, first article, and final inspections.
  • Assign work, provide technical guidance, and support QC Inspectors.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, indicators, optical comparators, and CMM equipment/software.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, tight tolerances, and GD&T requirements.

ISO 9001 Conformance & Documentation:
  • Ensure all verification activities are completed before product release.
  • Maintain accurate inspection reports, records, and traceability documentation.
  • Verify compliance with ISO 9001 quality management system requirements.

Nonconformance Control & Corrective Action:
  • Identify and control nonconforming products to prevent unintended use or shipment.
  • Coordinate containment, segregation, and disposition processes.
  • Support corrective actions and root cause investigations.

Six Sigma & Continuous Improvement:
  • Apply Six Sigma and DMAIC methodologies to reduce defects and variation.
  • Support Measurement System Analysis (MSA), including Gage R&R activities.
  • Partner with Engineering and Production to improve quality and prevent recurring defects.

Calibration & Audit Support:
  • Maintain calibration and control of inspection equipment and measurement tools.
  • Support internal/external audits and customer quality requirements.
  • Provide inspection records and traceability documentation as needed.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • High school diploma or GED; technical training preferred.
  • 5+ years of quality inspection experience in CNC machining or precision manufacturing.
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspection reporting systems.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality practices and nonconformance control.

Preferred:
  • CMM programming and operation experience (ZEISS Calypso or similar).
  • Six Sigma certification (Yellow Belt, Green Belt, or higher).
  • Experience conducting MSA / Gage R&R studies.
  • Experience generating First Article Inspection (FAI) reports.
