Job description

Calpine, a business unit of Constellation Energy Corporation (Nasdaq: CEG), is America's largest generator of electricity from natural gas and geothermal resources with operations in competitive power markets. With 79 energy facilities in operation, Calpine's fleet has the capacity to generate approximately 27,000 MW of electricity - enough to power approximately 27 million homes. Through wholesale power operations and its retail businesses, Calpine serves customers in 22 states and Canada. Its clean, efficient, modern and flexible fleet uses advanced technologies to generate power in a low-carbon and environmentally responsible manner.
The company was established on the premise that a strong commitment to the environment is inextricably linked to excellence in power generation and corporate responsibility. Since its founding in 1984, Calpine has led the power industry in its unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship. In addition, its renewable geothermal plants use steam generated deep below the earth's surface to produce clean, renewable electricity.
Job Responsibilities
• Under direction, performs any work required for the maintenance and test operation of units to maintain continuity of service consistent with safe and economical practices. Directs the work of others assisting him, and in the absence of the designated supervision assigned to the units, is responsible for the inspection, maintenance or construction work in progress.
• Coordinates operating activities and maintenance, when necessary, to remove equipment from service for maintenance work.
• Installs and repairs all types of mechanical and electrical equipment. Will troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment.
• Performs or assists in there recording and computation of all performance tests.
• Reports faulty or malfunctioning equipment to designated supervision.
• Maintains logs, records, monthly reports, fuel inventories, as necessary.
• Cooperates fully with all organization personnel.
• Will work overtime in this classification, as required, because of unusual or emergency conditions to maintain continuity of service.
• Will perform related or less-skilled work as required or directed.
• This classification is part of a composite department crew and will assist other classifications as needed.
Job Requirements
• High School or Vocational School education.
• Must have at least three (3) years' experience as a maintenance technician on gas turbine peaking units or equivalent.
• This is a Senior Classification.
• In depth knowledge of utility or industrial facility materials practices preferred.
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Planning and organizing skills.
• Safety awareness and adherence to regulatory, company and site policies and procedures.
• Decision making and problem solving skills.
• Create a climate conducive to team success. Cooperates fully with all other members of the organization and other departments. Must be able to deal properly with the public, vendors, contractors and in the best interest of the company.
• Must possess a valid driver's license at all times.
• Must be able to pass qualification tests prior to the Company awarding the position.
• Must be able to talk, walk, stand, sit, stoop, reach above shoulder, climb, crawl, do heavy lifting, and must be able to distinguish colors and perceive depth.
• Must possess or obtain within six months valid TWIC credentials.
• Must pass back x-ray, hernia, hearing exam and like employment physical requirements.
• Must be able to walk, stand, stop, climb, reach, and do heavy lifting.
• Will work such hours as may be necessary or requested because of unusual or emergency conditions, or to maintain continuity of service of the facility or system, including scheduled shifts.
• Training and progression testing will be administered as identified and developed. Failure to pass progression testing at any point will require remaining at the existing step of salary progression, with the employee eligible for retesting within the next six (6) months. Failure to pass any progression test a second time or complete required courses on schedule will result in the employee being discharged.
• Maintain high standards of safety, environmental compliance and housekeeping at all times.

• Hourly Rate - $54.03
