Job Summary:

The Mechanical Calibration Lead Technician oversees all aspects of internal and external mechanical calibration activities, ensuring all equipment meets regulatory and customer requirements. This role is responsible for calibrating mechanical tooling, writing calibration procedures, interfacing with customers and auditors, and managing documentation systems. The Mechanical Calibration Lead Technician will use tools such as Fluke MET/CAL, MET/TEAM, and other calibration software, and coordinate both lab-based and “on-site” calibrations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage purchase orders in JDE for calibration services, tools, and equipment.
  • Perform and coordinate all on-site and in-lab mechanical calibrations, ensuring accuracy and traceability to relevant standards and ensure timely completion of calibration activities.
  • Send out calibrations to external vendors, monitor turnaround times, and ensure quality of outsourced services and certifications.
  • Write and edit calibration procedures using Fluke Editor, based on manufacturer specification sheets and industry standards.
  • Manage and maintain calibration records in the Fluke Customer Portal and Internal Calibration Management Systems.
  • Generate and deliver monthly reports on calibration status, overdue instruments, performance metrics, and KPIs and monthly turn time reporting
  • Interact with customers/engineering regarding calibration requirements, documentation, and scheduling.
  • Work directly with auditors (internal and external) during audits to present calibration data, procedures, and compliance records.
  • Utilize MS Excel for data analysis, tracking, and reporting and use MS Word to prepare procedures, work instructions, and reports.
  • Ensure all calibrations are compliant with ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540, or applicable standards.
  • Drive process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize Crystal Report software to create and edit existing reports for management and customer reports.


Required Job Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • 3–5 years of mechanical calibration or metrology experience. Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Metrology, Electronics, Engineering, or related technical field preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with all mechanical methods of measurement.
  • Experience in the use of and calibration of test equipment such as, but not limited to, calipers, micrometers, depth micrometers, groove micrometers, intra-micrometers, plug gages, ring gages, thread plugs, set thread plugs, thread rings, NPT plugs, NPT rings, torque screwdrivers, torque wrenches, torque beam wrenches, force gages, load cells, dial indicators, scales, rulers, tape measures, height gages, snap gages, optical comparators, protractors, flush pin gages, laser scanners, gage blocks, surface plates, CMMs (coordinate measuring machines), weight scales.


Technical Proficiency:

  • Experience with Fluke MET/CAL, MET/TEAM, and Fluke Editor.
  • Proficient in MS Office Software – primarily Excel and Word.
  • Experience using Fluke MetTeam to upload or retrieve calibration certificates and related documentation.
  • Familiarity with JDE (JD Edwards) or other ERP systems for creating purchase orders.
  • Experience with Crystal Reports Software for writing reports using Fluke database as the source file.
  • Microsoft Teams

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with customers and auditors.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment:

  • Split between in laboratory and on-site, within the facility, environments.
