Responsibilities

  • Assist in the production of bakery items including parfaits, mousses, creams, fillings, cupcakes, cookies, gelatos, sorbets, pies, and more, using kitchen machinery as needed
  • Produce and finish daily orders from various outlets while maintaining par levels of food and ingredients
  • Prepare, bake, and decorate a variety of pastries and desserts, including breakfast items, breads, and rolls, to meet management expectations
  • Create celebration cakes by setting, filling, icing, and decorating using techniques such as piping, glazing, and rolled fondant
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of chocolate and sugar work for garnishes and decorations
  • Read, follow, and execute recipes accurately
  • Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and organization in compliance with Health Department regulations, including product rotation, labeling, and temperature log monitoring
  • Respond to work requests from other departments as needed
  • Follow all health and sanitation procedures and adhere to safe work practices
  • Operate and sanitize kitchen equipment safely and properly
  • Monitor raw materials to ensure consistent production volume
  • Provide courteous and friendly service to vendors and staff

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED required; some college-level coursework preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-volume bake shop preferred, with knowledge of production, bread making, pastries, desserts, and cake decorating
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in basic and intermediate math functions
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with team members
  • Professional, pleasant, confident, and well-groomed presentation
  • Thorough understanding of company and departmental policies and procedures
