Cafe General ManagerMountainside Cafe - Falls Village, CT


At Mountainside Treatment Center, our cafe is more than just a dining space-it's a vibrant, community-centered environment and a key part of our clients' recovery journey. We're seeking a Cafe General Manager who brings strong operational leadership and a passion for mentorship, hospitality, and impact. In this role, you'll oversee all aspects of cafe operations while also shaping a unique vocational training program that helps individuals build confidence, skills, and a path forward. If you're someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves developing teams, and wants your work to make a difference beyond the bottom line, this is a rare opportunity to do both.


Schedule: Wednesday - Sunday
Shifts typically fall between 6:00 am - 4:00 pm, with standard shifts of 6:00 am - 2:00 pm or 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Candidates must have flexibility to work either shift based on business needs.


Your Role:

Lead & Grow the Business

  • Own full cafe operations across front-of-house, back-of-house, and property
  • Manage budgets, forecasting, and P&L performance with a focus on sustainable growth
  • Drive revenue through creative strategies, including expanding catering and takeout offerings
  • Monitor inventory, vendor relationships, and cost controls to stay within budget targets

Inspire & Develop Your Team

  • Lead, coach, and develop a diverse team including kitchen staff, FOH team members, and supervisors
  • Create clear growth paths, training plans, and performance goals for staff
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback and mentorship
  • Step in as needed to support daily operations and maintain team continuity

Create an Exceptional Guest Experience

  • Set and uphold high standards for hospitality, service, and cleanliness
  • Resolve guest concerns with professionalism and care
  • Continuously improve workflows and service delivery to enhance the customer experience

Champion a Unique Vocational Program

  • Design and standardize cafe roles as part of a structured vocational training program for clients
  • Provide hands-on coaching and mentorship to help clients build transferable job skills
  • Track progress and ensure measurable growth throughout each client's experience
  • Collaborate closely with clinical and extended care teams to support recovery outcomes

Drive Operational Excellence

  • Oversee scheduling based on business trends, seasonality, and special events
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate reporting across financial, operational, and personnel metrics
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall performance

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of restaurant management experience (5+ years in restaurant/hospitality strongly preferred)
  • Strong leadership skills with a passion for coaching and developing others
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and operational performance
  • Exceptional customer service mindset with attention to detail
  • Experience in training, onboarding, and team development
  • ServSafe Certification required
  • Comfort working in a mission-driven environment supporting individuals in recovery
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general business systems

Compensation:


The base rate of pay for this position is $70,000 - $75,000 per year. Actual pay is determined based on a number of job-related factors including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, performance, and working conditions.
