Job description

Senior Pipe Stress Engineer
Play an integral role in Worley's Mechanical Engineering Pipeline Systems team, helping deliver the critical infrastructure that supports energy, chemicals, resources, and emerging energy markets. As the demand for reliable, efficient, and sustainable pipeline infrastructure continues to grow, you will provide advanced mechanical engineering and pipe stress expertise that supports the safe design and successful execution of complex projects across North America.
Join a highly experienced mechanical engineering team that supports a broad portfolio of pipeline, midstream, compression, facilities, and energy transition projects. This role offers the opportunity to influence project outcomes from concept development through commissioning, solve complex technical challenges, and serve as a trusted advisor to customers and project teams. Through technical excellence, collaboration, and innovation, you will help deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions that create long-term value for our customers.
Purpose of the role
As a Senior Pipe Stress Engineer, you will provide advanced pipe stress analysis and mechanical engineering expertise to support Worley and its customers across a variety of pipeline and facilities projects. As a key member of the Mechanical Engineering group, you will lead the development and execution of piping flexibility, vibration, and mechanical integrity solutions that ensure safe, reliable, and code-compliant infrastructure.
Working closely with mechanical, piping, civil, structural, process, and project management teams, you will help deliver integrated engineering solutions that support project execution, operational excellence, and customer success. In addition to performing complex technical analyses, you will provide technical leadership and mentorship while contributing to the continued growth of Worley's Pipeline Systems business.
Location: Denver, Colorado
This position is based in Denver and will support a hybrid work environment that combines office collaboration, customer engagement, and project support activities.
You will be responsible for
  • Providing technical leadership in pipe stress analysis, piping flexibility assessments, vibration engineering, and mechanical design activities.
  • Performing and leading advanced pipe stress analyses, piping flexibility evaluations, code compliance assessments, and pipe stress deliverables utilizing CAESAR II.
  • Leading mechanical engineering activities on multidisciplinary projects while ensuring alignment with project objectives, schedules, budgets, and customer requirements.
  • Delivering mechanical engineering services that meet Worley, customer, and regulatory requirements while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
  • Leading vibration engineering assessments, root cause investigations, and mitigation solutions for Acoustic-Induced Vibration (AIV), Flow-Induced Vibration (FIV), pulsation, and mechanically induced vibration issues.
  • Applying Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis to evaluate system performance and support engineering decision-making.
  • Developing robust, practical, and code-compliant vibration mitigation and mechanical integrity solutions.
  • Supporting facility and pipeline projects throughout design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational phases.
  • Preparing engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and procurement documentation.
  • Contributing to project proposals, estimates, schedules, execution strategies, and customer presentations.
  • Identifying scope changes, technical risks, and opportunities for improvement throughout project execution.
  • Collaborating with piping, process, structural, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and project management teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
  • Providing mentorship, coaching, and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers within the Mechanical Engineering group.
  • Maintaining strong customer relationships through clear communication, technical credibility, and responsive project support.
  • Supporting Worley's commitment to health, safety, environmental stewardship, quality, and continuous improvement.

What you'll bring to the role
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in pipe stress analysis, mechanical engineering, and infrastructure project delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting pipeline, oil and gas, energy, industrial, or related EPC projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASME B31.3 and related piping design and stress analysis standards.
  • Experience evaluating vibration-related issues, including Acoustic-Induced Vibration (AIV), Flow-Induced Vibration (FIV), mechanically induced vibration, and pulsation concerns.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards, including Energy Institute guidelines, ASME Section VIII, API 579, API 610, API 618, and API 674.
  • Knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) applications and analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with metallurgy, material selection, and piping specifications.
  • Experience developing or reviewing pipe specifications is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of engineering design software such as AutoCAD, CadWorx, Revit, and related design tools.
  • Proven ability to lead mechanical and piping engineering activities within multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and engineering judgment skills with demonstrated experience investigating complex operational and vibration-related issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively engage customers, contractors, project teams, and leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior engineering personnel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining technical quality and project commitments.
