Job description

Job Title - AI Engineer
Must have 3+ years of real hands on experience of AI development
AI Engineer with strong Python programming expertise and hands-on experience in building scalable data pipelines, automating workflows, and integrating AI capabilities into data engineering processes. The role involves developing robust data processing scripts, creating reusable validation frameworks, and orchestrating workflows using tools such as Apache Airflow, while leveraging core libraries like Pandas, SQLAlchemy, Requests, and PySpark. The candidate should be proficient in working with XML-based data formats, including parsing, transforming, and managing XML within Informatica and Python environments, with solid knowledge of XPath, XSLT, and schema validation. Additionally, the role requires practical exposure to AI/LLM integration, including prompt design, working with REST-based APIs, and using tools such as Claude Code and GPT Codex to accelerate development. The candidate is expected to apply strong engineering judgment to validate AI-generated outputs, follow best coding practices, contribute to shared libraries, and ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions. Strong ownership, analytical thinking, and the ability to collaborate across teams, mentor junior members, and work effectively within Agile and CI/CD environments are essential.

  • Experience with data processing, automation, and workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow)

  • Extensive Informatica PowerCenter expertise in designing and managing complex ETL workflows (mappings, sessions, workflows, worklets) with performance optimization (partition tuning, pushdown optimization, cache management)
  • Practical exposure to AI/LLM integration, prompt engineering, and API-based workflows
  • Ability to leverage AI tools (Claude Code, GPT Codex) for development acceleration
  • Strong ownership of end-to-end delivery (design through deployment)
  • Experience working in Agile teams with Git and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $120-135K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
