Job description

Aerothermal Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Aerothermal Design Engineer to play a critical role in the design and development of high-performance systems where aerodynamics and thermal performance are essential to success. In this role, you will lead complex aerothermal analyses, apply advanced modeling and simulation techniques, and influence design decisions from early concept through qualification and production.

You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, bring deep technical judgment to challenging problems, and contribute to the advancement of next-generation technology. This position offers the opportunity to work on technically demanding programs, have a visible impact on system performance and reliability, and shape innovative solutions throughout the product lifecycle.

What You Will Do

  • Execute, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of aerothermal design for turbomachinery
  • Support root cause investigations and develop innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges
  • Maintain, improve, and develop techniques, methods, and standards for the aerodynamic design of turbomachinery
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams engaged in the design and development of new technologies and system architectures to achieve optimal performance
  • Support prototype and production development test activities
  • Identify opportunities and establish strategies to improve engineering processes, tools, technologies, and quality control standards
  • Perform verification and validation of compressor, turbine, and fan performance maps for relevant applications
  • Lead the implementation of changes based on analysis of industry trends and developments in turbomachinery
  • Share knowledge, mentor, and help develop the next generation of engineers

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Prior engineering experience within aerospace, automotive, power generation or manufacturing environments.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Proficient in 3D CAD modeling applications such as Unigraphics NX or similar
  • Skilled in 1D mean line sizing of turbomachinery
  • Experienced in 3D blading of centrifugal compressors, radial inflow turbines, and axial fans
  • Capable of characterizing turbomachinery performance in a laboratory environment
  • Able to use commercial CFD software such as STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, or ANSYS CFX for turbomachinery design
  • Knowledgeable in basic programming using common languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++)
  • Understanding of mechanical design principles, including strength analysis and material behavior

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
