Now Hiring: CNC Production Engineer – 2nd Shift
Location: Greenfield, IN
Shift: 2nd Shift | 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM | Full-Time | Direct Hire
Salary: $60,000 – $65,000/year (based on experience)
+ Paid at straight time for any hours worked over 40


Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and mechanically skilled CNC Production Engineer to support 2nd shift operations in Greenfield, IN. This role is critical to ensuring efficient, accurate, and high-quality CNC production by managing tooling setup, optimizing machining processes, and partnering closely with production teams.
The CNC Production Engineer is responsible for preparing CNC machines for production by ensuring proper tooling selection, setup, and calibration. This position directly impacts production quality, efficiency, and overall operational success.

Key Responsibilities
Tool Setup & Machine Preparation
  • Install, set, and calibrate cutting tools with precision
  • Verify tool length offsets, diameters, and alignment
  • Support setup consistency across CNC mills, lathes, and routers
Blueprint & Technical Interpretation
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Determine proper tooling requirements based on part design
  • Verify tool paths and compatibility with CNC instructions
Measurement & Quality Control
  • Use micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and dial indicators
  • Ensure tooling and setup meet tight production tolerances
  • Identify and correct setup deviations impacting quality
Technical Knowledge
  • Basic understanding of G-code and CNC programming concepts
  • Familiarity with CAM software and toolpath interpretation
  • Knowledge of multiple CNC machine types and tooling systems
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and efficiency practices
Troubleshooting & Optimization
  • Identify tooling issues such as wear, breakage, or misalignment
  • Make precise adjustments to improve quality and reduce scrap
  • Recommend process and tooling improvements to reduce cycle time
Organization & Collaboration
  • Manage tool inventory, usage tracking, and reordering needs
  • Document setups, offsets, and tooling changes for consistency
  • Collaborate with machinists, programmers, and quality teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD
  • Hands-on CNC machine operation experience strongly preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience supporting cost reduction or process improvement initiatives
  • Willingness to work overtime as production demands require
