We are currently looking for a Business Process Analyst with BPMN or Visio experience for our Houston, TX office.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Business Process Analyst sits at the intersection of how work gets done and how technology improves it. Rather than simply documenting current-state processes and leaving them intact, this role actively guides teams in redesigning workflows so that digital tools deliver real operational value, not just a digital version of the manual process that came before. The analyst will work across operations, engineering, project execution, commercial, regulatory, and corporate functions to identify friction, eliminate waste, and partner with Digital Innovation Leads, IT, and business stakeholders to deliver process improvements that stick.
This position is ideal for someone who is energized by seeing how work truly happens, whether in the control room, the field, or corporate functions, and who is not afraid to challenge the status quo with thoughtful, practical solutions. The successful candidate brings structured analytical discipline, strong facilitation skills, and a bias toward practical solutions that the business will adopt.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Process Analysis & Design
  • Document current-state processes across business functions, identifying handoffs, cycle-time drivers, rework loops, and manual workarounds.
  • Design future-state processes that leverage digital tools (workflow automation, low-code / no-code platforms, integrated data) to eliminate waste and improve accuracy.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to structure analysis, quantify improvement opportunities, and build the business case for change.
  • Facilitate process workshops and working sessions with operations, engineering, commercial, project execution, and corporate teams.

Requirements Definition & Solutions Partnership
  • Translate business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria that development teams can execute against.
  • Ensure every requirement traces back to a measurable business outcome.
  • Partner with the Digital Experience Designer to validate that proposed solutions are usable for end users.
  • Collaborate with IT's solutions architects and data engineers to align process design with enterprise architecture and data standards.

Implementation & Measurement
  • Support pilot design, user acceptance testing, and rollout activities.
  • Partner with the Change Management Lead on organizational readiness, training content, and adoption measurement.
  • Measure post-implementation process performance against pre-implementation baselines and report on realized value.

Continuous Improvement
  • Build a library of process standards, templates, and reusable workflow patterns that accelerate future initiatives.
  • Identify systemic process issues that cross multiple initiatives and surface them for strategic action.
  • Promote a culture of process ownership and continuous improvement across the organization.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of experience in business process analysis, business analysis, or operational excellence roles.
  • Demonstrated track record of redesigning processes, and not just documenting them, with measurable outcomes.
  • Proficiency in process modeling tools and notation (BPMN and Visio or similar).
  • Strong facilitation skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience writing clear functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple concurrent initiatives.

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience in natural gas midstream, broader oil & gas, utilities, or other asset-intensive industries.
  • Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher), or IIBA CBAP certification.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) and other low-code / no-code tools.
  • Experience with enterprise systems such as ERP, EAM, CRM, commercial platforms, and capital project management tools.
  • Prior experience supporting digital transformation or innovation programs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Management Information Systems, or a related field.

PREFERRED EDUCATION:
  • Master's Degree
