Job description

Production Operator – Ethanol Plant Operations

Merrill, Iowa

Plymouth Energy is seeking a Full-Time Production Operator for our ethanol facility in Merrill, Iowa, located just 30 minutes from Sioux City.

Plymouth Energy has been operating for over 18 years and continues to invest in its people, operations, and surrounding communities. We are a team-oriented facility where operators are expected to learn, grow, troubleshoot, and take ownership of their areas.

This is not a “stand in one spot all day” position. Operators are involved in daily plant operations, process monitoring, equipment operation, troubleshooting, housekeeping, and continuous improvement throughout the facility.

Whether you already have ethanol experience or are mechanically inclined and willing to learn, we are looking for dependable individuals who want to build a long-term career in plant operations.

Schedule

• 12-hour rotating shift schedule

• Alternating day and night rotations

• Every-other-weekend schedule built into rotation

• Predictable full-time hours with overtime opportunities

What You’ll Do

• Monitor and operate plant processes safely and efficiently

• Learn and operate the plant control system (DCS)

• Perform routine rounds, inspections, and troubleshooting

• Collect samples and perform basic lab testing

• Maintain accurate operational logs and production records

• Monitor process conditions, chemical usage, and inventories

• Support startup, shutdown, cleaning, and maintenance activities

• Operate industrial equipment including forklifts, loaders, man lifts, and scissor lifts

• Maintain housekeeping and ownership of assigned operating areas

• Work closely with other operators, maintenance personnel, and supervisors to keep the plant running safely and efficiently

• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces

• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs regularly

• Ability to communicate clearly by radio and in person

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Valid driver’s license

• Legal authorization to work in the United States
