Job Title: Panel BuilderJob DescriptionThe Panel Builder assembles, wires, and tests electrical control panels and junction boxes from schematic drawings and prints, ensuring safe, reliable, and high-quality operation. This role combines hands-on mechanical and electrical work with blueprint interpretation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement in a machine shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret schematic drawings, blueprints, and assembly prints to plan panel layout and wiring.
- Physically assemble electrical control panels, junction boxes, and wire harnesses according to provided prints and specifications.
- Fabricate controls to print, including layout design and physical mounting of components to the back panel.
- Wire all electrical components accurately, following schematics and industry standards to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Install completed control panels onto equipment and perform functional testing to verify proper operation.
- Test panels for functionality and safety, identifying any defects or irregularities before release.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during assembly, wiring, installation, or testing, using mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively during fabrication, assembly, and installation tasks.
- Work with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as required for panel and equipment integration.
- Organize work efficiently, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, quality, and efficiency.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area in the machine shop and follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
Essential Skills- Previous experience in panel building, including assembly and wiring of electrical control panels and junction boxes.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints, schematic drawings, and assembly prints.
- Hands-on experience working with hand and power tools in a fabrication or machine shop environment.
- Practical knowledge of electrical systems and components used in control panels.
- Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems in relation to panel and equipment integration.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues in panels and equipment.
- Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and consistently meet deadlines.
- Critical thinking and strong problem-solving abilities to address technical challenges effectively.
- Demonstrated drive for continuous improvement and willingness to learn new methods and technologies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience in control panel layout and component mounting on back panels.
- Familiarity with panel wiring best practices and safety standards.

Work Environment
