Position Summary

The Territory Business Manager is responsible for driving profitable sales growth, strengthening customer relationships, and delivering technical agronomic expertise within an assigned territory. This role works closely with distributors, retail partners, field sales agronomists and growers to increase adoption of crop nutrition, biological, and plant health technologies.

The Territory Business Manager serves as both a strategic sales leader and trusted agronomic advisor by developing territory growth plans, providing technical training, and creating demand through consultative selling. This position reports to the Vice President of Sales.

Requirements:

Primary Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

· Achieve annual sales and profitability objectives for the assigned territory.

· Develop and execute an annual territory business plan identifying growth opportunities, strategic accounts, and market expansion initiatives.

· Forecast annual sales by product line and customer.

· Routinely call on retailers, field sales agronomists, key accounts, and other influential stakeholders.

· Identify new business opportunities while expanding existing customer relationships.

· Manage territory pricing and promotional programs.

· Work collaboratively with strategic partners to drive demand and increase market share.

Technical Agronomy & Customer Support

· Serve as the primary resource for crop nutrition, plant health, and biological recommendations within the assigned geography.

· Provide agronomic recommendations that improve crop performance, yield, and customer profitability.

· Gather and Interpret agronomic data to support product recommendations.

· Assist customers with product selection, application timing, rates, and stewardship.

· Resolve customer concerns by developing practical, agronomically sound solutions resulting in a positive return on investment.

Marketing & Demand Generation

· Develop product positioning strategies that differentiate company technologies.

· Coordinate field demonstrations, side by side comparisons, and customer education events.

· Deliver technical presentations, customer meetings, and customer training sessions.

· Create marketing support strategies that increase product awareness and customer adoption resulting in improved brand awareness.

· Collaborate with marketing, technical services, and product management teams to execute successful product launches.

Relationship Management

· Build long-term relationships with growers, retailers, field advisors, and industry contacts.

· Work closely with internal sales, marketing, product development, and technical support teams.

· Maintain regular communication regarding territory opportunities, competitive activity, and market trends within the team.

· Prepare and submit sales forecasts, activity reports, and territory updates.


Qualifications
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, Plant Science, Chemistry, or a related field preferred. Equivalent industry experience may be considered.

Experience

· 5–8+ years of experience in agricultural sales, agronomy, crop nutrition, crop protection, biologicals, or related agricultural industries.

· Proven success in territory management and consultative sales.

· Experience working with agricultural retailers, distributors, and growers.

· Strong understanding of agronomic production practices and plant nutrition.

Knowledge & Skills

· Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.

· Strong consultative selling and business development abilities.

· Technical knowledge of crop nutrition, plant health, and agronomic practices.

· Ability to analyze agronomic and sales data to drive business decisions.

· Strong presentation and training skills.

· Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management abilities.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CRM software.

· Ability to read and interpret product labels and calculate application rates.

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Travel Requirements

· Extensive travel throughout the assigned territory by automobile.

· Overnight travel as business needs require.

· Ability to work flexible hours during seasonal demand periods, including evenings and occasional weekends.
