Job description

The IT Business Support Specialist will provide technical leadership, support, and resolve problems of a comprehensive and complex nature. This role serves as a strategic liaison between the IT department and other business units within Largo Operations, ensuring that Business projects and services align with the IT standards and regulatory compliance. This role is responsible for ensuring seamless integration and performance of IT systems that support front-line manufacturing activities.

The individual will leverage deep technical expertise to troubleshoot complex system issues, recommend and implement IT solutions, and bridge the gap between operational users (e.g. operators, engineers, factory managers, etc.) and backend IT infrastructure. Assists non-IT personnel/departments in formulating requests or proposals and in determining information system needs assessments. Provides leadership and guidance to non-IT staff on technical solutions for Operations related equipment interfaces.  This role will also assist with project/initiatives and the implementation/deployment of IT solutions. Utilizes advanced technical knowledge to plan and lead the implementation of technical IT solutions within the business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary IT liaison for Largo Manufacturing, collaborating closely with production operators, engineers, and factory leadership to support system releases, upgrades, and new application deployments that impact manufacturing operations.

  • Document technical solutions/processes regarding upgrades, equipment setups, etc.

  • Take ownership of carrying out problem analysis to implement temporary or permanent fixes with the aim of restoring service to the customer as soon as possible; escalating incidents to other support teams where necessary.

  • Interface with business units to understand their technical needs and requirements. Existing manufacturing operational systems include Oracle, Leading to Lean (L2L), MP2, CIMNET, etc.

  • Develop and maintain complex technical interfaces between IT systems and technical equipment. (e.g., MES, SCADA, PLCs)

  • To create, maintain and publish relevant support documentation for the transition of new technology, applications, etc.

  • Performs advanced technological systems support, maintenance, and testing for proper upkeep of systems; troubleshoots and resolves complex system hardware, software, and network failures and conflicts.

  • Understand the Technical debt associated with your area and continually work to reduce/eliminate/mitigate as such.

  • Participate in or lead technology pilots and deployments, ensuring alignment with both local manufacturing needs and corporate IT standards.

  • Act as a key contributor or lead on cross-functional projects involving IT infrastructure, digital transformation, or automation initiatives at the Largo site.

  • Serves as a primary project member on technology projects with large scope and impact; may lead and integrate the work of other staff.

  • Work with 3rd party relationships in areas of assigned coverage documenting direction and project work as needed

  • Ensure Business solutions are in compliance with IT standards and regulatory requirements.

  • In addition to the main responsibilities listed above, the manager may use discretion to add further duties and tasks based on the business needs which are not explicitly listed above.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree; or Associate’s degree with 5-8 years of related experience

  • With Bachelor’s degree, 3+ years of related experience in IT Help Desk and/or desktop support or IT Business partner role, 5+ years strongly preferred

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting both domestic and international users in a global organization.

  • Experience with FDA CFR Part 11 validation and SOX

  • Windows Certifications – MCSA,  CompTIA A+ or other related desktop certifications.

  • PMP certification

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of desktop hardware, diagnosing problems and ability to use diagnostic tools.

  • Infrastructure and network understanding and troubleshooting.

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interface with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience supporting users in a global organization

  • Ability to provide leadership and functional direction to other technical support staff

  • Ability to analyze and resolve moderately complex computer and network problems.

  • Strong background in IT and Operations related technical support

  • Ability to translate business requirements into technological solutions.

  • Project Management experience
