The Opportunity
The Finance Business Partner (FBP) for the West (Alberta, British Columbia & Midwest) plays acritical strategic rolein supporting regional leadership to drive financial performance, operational decision-making, and business growth. This is a highly collaborative, forward-looking position requiring an influential communicator with strong financial acumen and a deep desire to understand the business.

The FBP acts as the financial steward for the region, ensuring a healthy P&L, identifying risks and opportunities early, and guiding investment decisions that shape the business's future. Success in this role requires confidence, initiative, curiosity, and the ability to simplify complex information for operational leaders. This is a pivotal role, not just for finance but for driving broader business goals.

What You Will Do

Strategic Business Partnering

  • Partner closely with regional leadership to proactively guide strategic and financial decision-making.

  • Provide forward-looking insight into P&L health, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities before they materialize.

  • Lead scenario modeling, financial impact analyses, and ROI assessments for headcount, CapEx, new branches, and strategic initiatives.

  • Collaborate across functions to gather inputs needed for accurate forecasting, ensuring alignment and accountability across teams.

  • Build strong relationships with business leaders, becoming a trusted advisor with a deep understanding of the region's operations.

  • Develop strategic frameworks or tools that could aid financial decision-making.

Financial Planning, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Prepare integrated budgets and forecasts based on regional business plans and operational realities.

  • Facilitate cross-function workshops and meets to foster a culture of financial awareness among operational teams.

  • Deliver insightful commentary on monthly performance including Sales, Margin, Opex and Working Capital, while emphasizing the value of storytelling with data to make insights more relatable and actionable for leadership.

  • Conduct high-level strategic financial analysis (not transactional day-to-day accounting tasks).

  • Prepare and present monthly Regional Business Review materials, including presentations for the CFO and executive leadership team.

  • Support special projects with data-driven insights, modeling, and strategic recommendations.

Controls, Compliance & Governance

  • Perform and report on monthly SOX and Base Financial Controls compliance testing such as Revenue Cut-off, Inventory Cut-off, and Credit Note Review and demonstrate and promote ethics and integrity throughout all layers of the business.

  • Ensure alignment with financial policies, processes, and best practices.

  • Mentore team members are stakeholders in compliance matters to promote a culture of accountability.

What You Bring

  • University degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field.

  • CPA designation (completed or in progress) strongly preferred

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in finance, business partnering, FP&A, or strategic analysis.

  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical capability.

  • Advanced proficiency with Excel; familiarity with Oracle GL, Anaplan, Power BI, Tableau an asset.

  • Highly collaborative, approachable team player with the confidence to engage and challenge leaders constructively.

  • Comfortable presenting to all levels of leadership, including executives.

  • Strong initiative: proactively seeks involvement, proposes solutions, and doesn't wait to be asked.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
