Job description
Provide current instruction to students that meets the educational requirements for a provisional broker as prescribed by the NC Real Estate Commission. Receives general supervision from Director of Workforce Training or Associate Dean of Continuing Education and exercises no supervision.
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop course outline based on NC REC Prelicensing curriculum and NCCCS combined course library.
- Develop and prepare supplemental materials to enhance textbook lessons and materials.
- Use technology for engaging class attention as well as completing required classroom documentation.
- Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to students that address different learning styles.
- Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade and record scores. Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintain other records and data bases according to program needs or accreditation requirements.
- Provide regular and appropriate student feedback.
- Stay abreast of new developments and changes in various assigned academic fields; participate in staff development programs, workshops, seminars and other continuing education programs as appropriate.
- Review available instructional materials/supplies and inform staff of needs in a timely fashion.
- Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons; revise and improve lesson format.
- Maintain and submit all required paperwork in a neat, accurate and timely fashion, including but not limited to: class rosters, registration forms, pay sheets, attendance forms and grade rosters
- Meet all CFCC, NCCCS and NCREC compliance standards and deadlines.
Other important functions:
- Develop relationships with local businesses as needed to facilitate student employment.
- Meet all NCREC requirements to maintain real estate license.
- Incorporate math related to finance and real estate
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge of: Teaching methods, instructional strategies, and current trends/research. Current NCREC pre and post licensing requirements. Working as a real estate broker.
Ability To: Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for: Making observations, Reading and writing, Communicating with others, Operating assigned equipment, Handling varied tasks simultaneously.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following: Standing or sitting for extended periods of time, Operating assigned equipment, Handling varied tasks simultaneously, Bending, stooping, climbing or lifting up to 50 pounds.
Maintain mental capacity, which allow the capability of: Making sound decisions, Responding to questions, Demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
Experience and training guidelines: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Minimum Education/Training: Associates degree in Real Estate, Business, Finance, Accounting or related field. Ability to teach math skills for finance and real estate.
Minimum Experience: Minimum 2 years full-time experience in real estate brokerage with at least 1 year in NC. Training or teaching experience. MS Word, Power Point, and Excel knowledge for classroom engagement, assignments, and required class documentation. Good technology skills. Real estate Prelicensing or Postlicensing instructor approval.
License of Certificate – Additional Specialized Requirements: 21 NCAC 58H.0302 APPLICATION AND CRITERIA FOR ORIGINAL PRELICENSING, POSTLICENSING, OR UPDATE COURSE INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL.

- Classes are offered during the day and in the evening, usually 2-3 nights each week (6-9 hrs/week)
- Classes may be offered at all CFCC campuses depending on enrollment
- This position REQUIRES UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS AND/OR TRAINING CERTIFICATIONS be submitted in addition to the application. Please have these documents ready to upload when applying.
- Candidates are required to submit OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS for all degrees obtained prior to their first day of work or hire date. If highest level of education is High School diploma or equivalent, proof of completion is required.
- Candidates who have obtained their education outside of the US and its territories must have their academic degree(s) validated, at their own expense, by an outside credential evaluation service as equivalent to the Baccalaureate or Master's degree conferred by a regionally accredited college or university in the United States.
- To claim veterans' preference, all eligible persons shall submit a DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, to Human Resources during the application process. Human Resources will verify eligibility.
