POSITION SUMMARY: The Business Manager is responsible for the overall success and profitability of the restaurant. This role provides leadership and oversight to the General Manager and management team while ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, and alignment with company goals. The Business Manager serves as the strategic leader of the business, balancing guest satisfaction, team development, and financial results.ย

SUPERVISES: Hospitality General Manager (GM)ย 


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


Business & Financial Management

  • ย Oversee overall restaurant profitability, financial performance, and business operationsย 
  • ย Manage budgets, labor costs, food costs, inventory, and operating expensesย 
  • ย Review financial reports and key performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvementย 
  • ย Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and operational efficiencyย 

Leadership & Team Development

  • ย Directly supervise, coach, and support the General Managerย 
  • ย Establish performance expectations and accountability for restaurant leadershipย 
  • ย Assist with recruiting, hiring, and retention strategies for management positionsย 
  • ย Foster a positive culture that promotes teamwork, accountability, and employee engagementย 
  • ย Support leadership development and succession planning effortsย 

Operational Oversight

  • ย Ensure the General Manager and leadership team execute company standards consistentlyย 
  • ย Monitor guest satisfaction, service quality, cleanliness, and operational performanceย 
  • ย Conduct regular reviews of restaurant operations and implement corrective actions when neededย 
  • ย Ensure proper execution of opening, closing, and operational proceduresย 
  • ย Maintain alignment between Front-of-House and Back-of-House operationsย 

Compliance & Risk Management

  • ย Ensure compliance with health, safety, food handling, and sanitation regulationsย 
  • ย Monitor compliance with company policies and applicable employment lawsย 
  • ย Oversee workplace safety initiatives and risk management practicesย 
  • ย Ensure all required licenses, permits, and certifications remain currentย 

Strategic Planning & Growth

  • ย Identify opportunities for operational improvements and business growthย 
  • ย Analyze market trends, guest feedback, and competitive activityย 
  • ย Lead special projects and continuous improvement initiativesย 
  • ย Collaborate with ownership on long-term business objectives and strategic planningย 


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • ย 5+ years of restaurant management, hospitality leadership, or business management experienceย 
  • ย Proven experience leading managers and developing high-performing teamsย 
  • ย Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost managementย 
  • ย Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsย 
  • ย Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilitiesย 
  • ย Ability to balance strategic planning with operational executionย 
  • ย Working knowledge of scheduling, inventory, POS systems, and financial reportingย 
  • ย ServSafe Manager certification preferredย
