SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The Senior Manager - Business Development position is accountable for developing and leading the strategic direction, commercial execution, and profitable growth of the Business Unit. This position leads a team of Business Managers and is responsible for aligning business strategy, customer engagement, pricing, innovation, market development, and portfolio optimization activities across product lines, market segments, and customers.
The Senior Manager - Business Development serves as a primary commercial leader for the Business Unit, and serves as a member of the business unit leadership team, ensuring alignment between Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Finance, etc.. This position is responsible for establishing and communicating strategic priorities, driving organizational accountability, developing talent, and ensuring sustained profitable growth through market-focused strategies and customer-centric execution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
โ€ข Develops and communicates the Business Unit strategic vision and long-term growth plans by market segment, customer, product family, and region.
โ€ข Leads the development and deployment of mid-term and long-term strategic action plans supporting achievement of corporate objectives and growth targets.
โ€ข Directs and coaches a team of Business Managers responsible for execution of commercial strategies, business planning, pricing, and portfolio management.
โ€ข Establishes commercial priorities and aligns cross-functional resources to support profitable growth initiatives and strategic business objectives.
โ€ข Leads business development activities including new product introductions, new market investigations, and strategic customer acquisition efforts.
โ€ข Drives Voice of Customer activities and ensures customer insights are translated into actionable business opportunities.
โ€ข Provides leadership in identifying market trends, competitive threats, emerging technologies, and customer requirements.
โ€ข Leads commercial strategy development for major customer opportunities, including pricing strategy, contract negotiations, terms of sale, and business case development.
โ€ข Establishes pricing governance and directs portfolio optimization strategies, including growth, fix, harvest, and exit actions.
โ€ข Accountable for Business Unit P&L performance, including revenue growth, margin performance, profitability improvement, and financial impact of strategic business decisions.
โ€ข Builds organizational capability through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and development of Business Managers and commercial team members.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct responsibility for leading, coaching, developing, and evaluating Business Managers and other business professionals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is mostly performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 20-35% of time.
