GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Principal Business Systems Analyst serves as the primary administrator, functional expert, and technical lead for the company's enterprise business systems, with a focus on Deltek Costpoint, Deltek Time & Expense, SQL Server databases, business intelligence platforms, and integrated applications. This role oversees the administration, support, enhancement, integration, reporting, and strategic utilization of enterprise systems supporting government contracting operations. The position collaborates closely with Finance, Accounting, Contracts, Payroll, Human Resources, Program Management, and Executive Leadership to ensure systems align with operational objectives and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate brings deep technical proficiency, strong business process understanding, project leadership capabilities, and the communication skills necessary to serve as a trusted advisor across the organization.

DUTIES ERP Administration & Functional Leadership
  • Serve as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for Deltek Costpoint.
  • Administer Deltek Time & Expense and related workforce management tools.
  • Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize ERP modules and business processes.
  • Analyze business requirements and implement system enhancements.
  • Lead system upgrades, patches, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Manage role-based security, user access, and system governance.
  • Develop and maintain ERP documentation, procedures, and training content.
  • Provide advanced support for end-user issues and escalations.
Business Intelligence & Reporting
  • Design and maintain operational, financial, and executive reporting solutions.
  • Develop dashboards, analytics, and data models using BI technologies.
  • Generate ad hoc analyses supporting leadership and departmental decision making.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define KPIs and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across reporting environments.
Database Administration & Data Management
  • Administer Microsoft SQL Server databases supporting enterprise applications.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and views.
  • Monitor and improve database performance and reliability.
  • Support database backups, recovery, maintenance, and data integrity processes.
  • Assist with data conversions, migrations, and new system deployments.
Systems Integration & Automation
  • Design and maintain integrations between enterprise systems and applications.
  • Develop automated workflows to streamline data exchange and business processes.
  • Troubleshoot interface failures and coordinate resolution internally or with vendors.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes through automation.
Project Management
  • Lead enterprise application and enhancement projects from planning through implementation.
  • Create project plans, timelines, testing strategies, and deployment documentation.
  • Coordinate cross functional resources, vendors, and consultants.
  • Manage competing priorities while ensuring successful execution and adoption.
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing and organizational change management.
Government Contracting & Compliance Support
  • Support processes aligned with government contracting regulatory requirements.
  • Work with Finance, Accounting, Contracts, and Compliance teams to maintain DCAA aligned system configurations.
  • Support audits, documentation efforts, and mandated reporting.
  • Assist with labor distribution, project accounting, indirect rate management, and related Costpoint functions.
Business Analysis & Process Improvement
  • Evaluate and improve business processes across operational teams.
  • Gather, document, and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Recommend system enhancements to improve efficiency and data visibility.
  • Act as a liaison between business units and technical resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Equivalent experience considered.
Experience
  • 10+ years of experience supporting enterprise business systems.
  • Strong experience administering ERP platforms, preferably Deltek Costpoint.
  • Experience in a government contracting environment.
  • Business intelligence/report development experience.
  • Project management and cross functional collaboration experience.
  • Experience working with senior leadership and business stakeholders.
Technical Skills
  • Deltek Costpoint administration.
  • Deltek Time & Expense administration.
  • Microsoft SQL Server administration and SQL development.
  • Advanced query, stored procedure, and data modeling capabilities.
  • Reporting and BI tool experience.
  • Systems integration and automation tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong understanding of system testing, implementation, and change management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Deltek Costpoint certification or comparable expertise.
  • Experience in DCAA compliant environments.
  • Cognos or similar BI/reporting platform experience.
  • Formal project management experience (PMP or equivalent preferred).
  • Understanding of accounting, finance, project accounting, and payroll workflows.
