Job description

TheBusiness Continuity Managerplays a vital role in protecting the organization by ensuring its resilience to a variety of risks. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Security Risk and Compliance, this position leads and expands the QTS Business Continuity program, overseeing coordination of resilience efforts across all business units. The manager's expertise is key to strengthening the organization's resilience and maintaining its capacity to endure disruptions.

The QTS Business Continuity team directs and facilitates comprehensive, companywide business impact analysis and risk assessments for essential Information Technology systems, business processes, management systems, data center facilities, personnel safety, supply chain systems, and activities supported by third-party suppliers. Utilizing business impact analyses and risk assessments, the team supports the creation and ongoing maintenance of business continuity, disaster recovery, emergency response, and crisis management plans and documentation. Additionally, the team organizes and supervises resilience training and testing exercises to ensure preparedness.

What You Will Do:(Job Responsibilities)

  • Lead and manage the QTS Business Continuity Team, including planning, execution, and reporting on the overall health of the QTS Business Continuity Program.

  • Build relationships with executives, business leaders, technical teams, governance, and third parties to address availability and recovery needs.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for both new and ongoing Business Continuity planning and recovery objectives.

  • Maintain templates aligned with strategies regarding business applications, impact assessment, key dependencies, and recovery objectives and expectations.

  • Facilitate meetings with key stakeholders to evaluate program strengths and weaknesses, ensuring resources are allocated to the most critical functions.

  • Present the current recovery capabilities to executives, senior management, and stakeholders, seeking their approval and incorporating feedback and required changes.

  • Participate in monthly Security Executive Committee meetings, reporting to QTS executives on the status of resilience plans and projects aimed at program improvement.

  • Lead, direct, and develop less experienced staff members and technical teams to enhance their knowledge and skills in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.

  • Provide ongoing training and education for staff, focusing on both technical and soft skills.

  • Define, create, and promote Business Continuity planning and recovery policies, ensuring they are approved by senior leadership.

  • Ensure senior management holds business units accountable for their roles and responsibilities in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, crisis management, and incident response teams to set benchmarks and metrics, aligning the program with organizational expectations for success.

  • Conduct reviews with business units based on their criticality, with annual reviews required for critical processes.

  • Organize, communicate, and enforce Business Continuity lifecycle planning, including business impact analysis reviews.

  • Review essential contracts with third-party service providers responsible for recovery facilities.

  • Arrange and oversee testing of plans to ensure the capability to recover and continue operations is achieved.

  • Engage with industry consortia and develop strong networking and relationship opportunities.

  • Collaborate with teams to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics across business units.

What You Will Need to BeSuccessful:(Required Qualifications, Education,Experience, Certifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • US Citizenship is required for this position due to federal customer contracts.

  • At least eight years of experience in business continuity and/or disaster recovery.

Nice to Have:(Preferred Qualifications, Education, Experience, Certifications)

  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) certification from an accredited organization.

  • Prior experience in business continuity and/or disaster recovery within a data center environment.

Other Key Skills:(KSAs)

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations to QTS executives.

  • Leadership and project management skills.

  • Technical expertise to understand dependencies of critical business applications.

  • Experience in technology, with a demonstrated ability to learn technical systems and environments.

  • Strong understanding and support of ISO 22301, with familiarity in ISO 27001.

  • Experience in crisis management planning and execution.

  • Knowledge of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning frameworks, including DRII and BCI.

  • Experience in business impact analysis planning, incident response planning, and plan testing execution.

  • Comprehensive understanding of security frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, and incident response procedures
