Job description

i3 is searching for aย Data Analystย to support the Missile Defense Agency Information Management and Software Services (AIMSS) effort. The mission is to design and implement a Missile Defense System with multiple layers of protection.ย The Data Analystย leveragesย data toย provideย valuable insights, support decision-making, and contribute to the overall success of the organization. Helps the organization make informed choices based on empirical evidence.ย This position isย locatedย at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.ย 


  • Ensures that data is collected, validated, and reviewed within established time frames and in accordance with prescribed standards of quality.
  • Assists in addressing technical or administrative issues associated with data access, collection, and dissemination.
  • Uses data collection tools to review reports and system outputs, ensuring accuracy and completeness across structured and unstructured sources.
  • Applies statistical methods and analytical tools to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in RDT&E datasets.
  • Extracts and analyzes specific data elements from databases and information systems using software such as SQL, R, or Python.
  • Performs occasional non-routine or ad hoc analyses for leadership as needed.
  • Gathers data from databases, spreadsheets, APIs, and external datasets in support of program requirements.
  • Cleans and preprocesses raw data to ensure accuracy, consistency, completeness, and analytical readiness.
  • Applies descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, and correlation analysis to derive insight from operational data.
  • Creates visual representations of findings using charts, graphs, dashboards, or other presentation tools.
  • Communicates complex findings in clear, concise terms for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Generates recurring and ad hoc reports summarizing trends, issues, and key performance indicators.
  • Presents findings and recommendations in formats tailored for leadership briefings and decision forums.
  • Ensure that analytical results are statistically sound.
  • Monitor data over time and flag anomalies or deviations from expected trends.
  • Develop or configure basic data alerts or triggers to signal threshold violations or unusual behavior.
  • Implements alerts or triggers for significant changes in data patterns.
  • Apply analytical skills to solve mission-related problems and support data-informed decisions.
  • Assist program staff and analysts by providing evidence-based insights to support project execution and strategic planning.
  • Follow established data governance standards and ensure compliance with relevant data classification and privacy regulations.
  • Maintain appropriate handling, labeling, and documentation for sensitive or classified data.
  • Document data sources, transformation steps, analytical logic, and key assumptions for reproducibility.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelorโ€™s degreeย (BD)ย in dataย Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Computer Science, or related field required.ย ย Additionalย experience may substitute forย a degree.ย ย 
    • Jr Level โ€“ย BD andย 0-5ย years of relevant experienceย required.ย 
    • Mid Levelย โ€“ย BD and 6-11ย years of relevant experienceย required.ย 
    • Sr Level โ€“ BD and 12+ย years of relevant experienceย required.ย 
  • Experience working for a government organization preferred.ย ย ย 
  • Active Secret clearanceย required. Must be able toย maintainย the security clearanceย requiredย for this position.ย 
  • Mustย resideย within a50-mile radius ofRedstone Arsenal in Huntsville ALย or be willing toย relocateย prior toย startย date.ย 
  • Ability to reliably commute to the office as business needs dictate.ย 
  • U.S. Citizenship isย required.ย ย 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Proficiencyย orย experience with at least one analytical tool or language (e.g., SQL, Python, R).ย 
  • Proficiencyย in developing dashboards and visual reports using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.ย 
  • Understanding ofย basic statistical techniques and data integrity principles.ย 
  • Knowledge of office administration and procedures.ย ย 
  • Exceptional judgment capabilities and relationship management skills.ย 
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and client service skills; ability to clearly communicate in discussions and written documents, and to deliver feedback clearly and tactfully. ย
