Position Summary

The Preschool Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of school-age children to and from local elementary schools and approved field trips. The Bus Driver is expected to maintain a safe driving record, follow all state licensing requirements, ensure the safety of every child in their care, and represent the school in a professional manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safely transport children to and from designated schools and school-sponsored activities.

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections before and after each route.

Ensure all children are properly seated and follow bus safety rules.

Maintain accurate attendance and verify that every child is picked up and dropped off at the correct location.

Communicate any transportation concerns, accidents, delays, or maintenance issues immediately to school management.

Keep the bus clean, fueled, and in good operating condition.

Comply with all federal, state, and local traffic laws, childcare licensing regulations, and school transportation policies.

Assist children with boarding and exiting the bus safely.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while interacting with children, families, and staff.

Participate in required safety training and emergency evacuation drills.

Assist with other school duties between routes as assigned, including classroom support, cleaning, maintenance, or other operational needs.

Qualifications

Valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Meets all childcare licensing requirements for transporting children.

CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Ability to pass a criminal background check, fingerprinting, and drug screening if required.

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and assist children as needed.

Dependable, punctual, and committed to child safety.

Physical Requirements

Sit for extended periods while driving.

Safely enter and exit the bus multiple times daily.

Ability to supervise and respond appropriately in emergency situations.

Performance Expectations

Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.

Demonstrate safe driving habits at all times.

Treat children, families, and coworkers with professionalism and respect.

Follow all school policies and management directives.

Perform all assigned duties in a safe, cooperative, and positive manner.
