The Folsom Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD) is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Transportation team as School Bus Drivers. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a meaningful career supporting student success-no prior bus driving experience required.
Start Your Career While You Train
New hires are onboarded as paid substitute bus drivers and will earn $23.56 per hour during training while completing the District's School Bus Driver Training Program.
Comprehensive Training Program
FCUSD provides a structured training program designed to prepare you for success as a professional school bus driver. The program:
  • Includes approximately 100 hours of training over about one to two months
  • Combines classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel training, and performance evaluation
  • Requires successful completion of all components, including attendance, participation, and assessments
  • Prepares candidates to safely and effectively transport students

Progress is closely monitored throughout the program to ensure trainees meet the high standards required for student safety and service.
Minimum Sub Bus Driver Cadet Requirements
  • Valid driver's license (Class C or higher)
  • Ability to meet training, licensing, and performance standards
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to student safety
  • Ability to attend all required training sessions

Job Description Bus DriverUnder the supervision of the Director of Transportation, operate a school bus over designated routes to transport school children and to do related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
Licenses and Certificates: Must possess and maintain a valid State of California Class B driver's license and California School Bus Driver Certificate. Acquire and maintain a valid First Aid and CPR certificate or endorsement by the California Highway Patrol within six months of employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical abilities
include the usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions and require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching; reaching, handling, touching and/or feeling; manual dexterity to operate a bus, climb steps, and reach overhead. Correctly demonstrate sufficient strength, mobility, and range of motion to arm lift 50 pounds and floor lift 50 pounds. in an employee entrance evaluation.
Significant physical abilities include the ability to sit at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations for extended periods of time; see and read, with or without visual aids, laws and codes, rules, policies and other printed matter, computer screens and printouts; read traffic signage, hear and understand speech at normal room levels and hear and understand speech on the telephone or radio; speak in audible tones aloud and on the radio so that others may understand clearly in normal conversations and over the sounds encountered while operating the bus.
Upon Conditional Offer of Employment:
  • DOJ and FBI Criminal Background Check
  • TB Test within the last 60 days (Education Code 49406, Assembly Bill 1667)
  • Complete district Mandated Reporter training, Sexual Harassment, etc.
  • Must obtain and maintain a First Aid/CPR Certificate (In-Person Training ONLY)
  • Pre-Employment Physical Evaluation conducted through the District (Minimum 50 pounds)
