Rohrer Bus School Route Monitor

Rohrer Bus, based in Duncannon, PA, has delivered school and commercial passenger transportation solutions for over a century. The School Route Monitors provide critical support to our school transport drivers by assisting in their efforts to ensure safe and reliable transport for the students entrusted to our care, to and from school.

Core Responsibilities
  • Know the route and remain alert to monitor the welfare of passengers while enroute. Keep order on the bus.
  • Communicate behavior problems and conditions of various stops with the driver.
  • Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, parents, and students.
  • Assist in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, including child checks.
  • Assist, as necessary, students in the loading and unloading process.
  • Attend all safety and training meetings.
  • Conduct emergency evacuations from the bus, including exiting from the emergency door. May also require physical removal of disabled child from the bus.
  • Assist driver in completion of required paperwork for the district, state and Rohrer Bus.
  • Clean the inside of the bus, including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows.
  • Other specialized functions as required by contract.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and hold a valid PA ID.
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Medical: Ability to pass initial and routine physical examinations and drug/alcohol screening programs.
  • Comfortable using or learning fleet and workforce technology systems such as Samsara (GPS/vehicle tracking) and Dayforce (scheduling/HR).
Required Expectations
  • Must be able to work without direct supervision and manage time effectively across assigned routes.
  • Must be available for morning and afternoon drive times during the school year.
  • Cooperate and communicate professionally and respectfully with school personnel, parents, and students.
  • Dress in a professional and appropriate manner for a business environment.
  • Keep vehicle organized and clean, including sweeping, dusting, and cleaning windows.
  • Must be able to withstand varying indoor/outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures and adverse weather.
  • Perform all job functions in the safest manner, adhering to Rohrer Bus policies and all applicable federal and state laws.
  • Other specialized functions as required by contract.
