Your responsibilities as a Burmese interpreter are to provide translation and interpretation services for Burmese and English speaking clients. In areas of the US where there are large Burmese populations, such as Fort Wayne, Indiana, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Los Angeles, California, social service agencies, medical facilities, and the courts provide interpretation services to Burmese speakers with limited English skills. As an interpreter, your duties are to read official documents and translate them for Burmese speakers or accompany them to appointments and interpret interviews or meetings. Burmese interpreters also work in international politics and global aid and development work in Myanmar, Thailand, India, and Bangladesh.
| Aspect | Burmese Interpreter | Translator |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Language proficiency, interpretation certifications | Language proficiency, translation certifications |
| Work Environment | Consecutive or simultaneous interpretation in meetings, events | Document translation, written content |
| Industry Usage | Legal, medical, business settings requiring real-time communication | Publishing, legal, technical documents |
| Search & Comparison Intent | Often compared for language services in real-time contexts | Compared for written translation needs |
The main difference between a Burmese Interpreter and a Translator lies in their work mode: interpreters facilitate real-time spoken communication, while translators work with written texts. Both roles require strong language skills and relevant certifications, but their work environments and industry applications differ significantly.
