This position is temporary with the opportunity to be hired on full time

Position Summary
The Mechanical Services A-Tech position requires an individual to be able to comprehend and be trained in general support services to Mechanical Services Welding and Liquid Bulk Terminal Maintenance Operations. The Mechanical Services A-Tech should be familiar with welding standards such as ASME IX and API-650 & API-653 and structural welding. The Mechanical Services A-Tech is to perform daily, weekly, monthly, annually preventive maintenance on tanks, meters, piping, pumps, gear reducers, valves, steam fittings, filters, strainers, hoses, fork lift, pay loader, bob cat and other various pieces of equipment used. The Mechanical Services A-Tech is to perform grinding, insulating of piping, valves, tanks; painting of tanks, handrails, piping, pumps, structural supports, cat walks, etc.; participate in general cleaning of tank interior/exterior. The Mechanical Services A-Tech is to practice good housekeeping of the maintenance building, equipment, and terminals grounds. The Mechanical Services A-Tech may be required to participate in spill response, hazardous and non-hazardous material storage and shipment, tank cleaning and other environmental, health and safety sensitive activities
Responsibilities
  • Competently follow all safety rules and procedures whether written, orally given or implied.
  • Qualified and competent Confined Space Attendant.
  • Procurement of tools, equipment, welding supplies to Mechanical Services Personnel.
  • Give assistance to Mechanical Services Welders as needed.
  • Competently and safely perform grinding and cutting operations on steel.
  • Competently and safely operate the torch set for demolition & metal cutting purposes.
  • General Preventative Maintenance & repairing of motors, gear reducers, pumps, mixers, piping, valves, hoses, fittings, etc.
  • General maintenance of terminal vehicles, pay loader, bob cat, manlift, etc.
  • Properly check oils, fuels, radiators, transmissions on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Hook up and disconnect steam, air and nitrogen hoses safely and properly.
  • Operate front-end loader, bobcat, forklift, Payloader, aerial boom truck, man lift and other equipment.
  • Inspection and maintenance of storage tank foundations, steam coils, vacuum breakers, pressure relief valves, hatch and dome gaskets etc.
  • Assist in pouring concrete pads; install piping and pipe stands, bridges and walkways
  • General painting duties including scrapping, priming, painting; and the use of spray-painting equipment.
  • Read and record pressures on all nitrogen blanketed tanks.
  • Capable of multi-tasking, doing several tasks at the same time.
  • Maintain all tools in good working order and keep them secured.

Qualifications
  • Experience with structural welding
  • Knowledge of valves and industrial liquid pumps
  • Experience with forklift, bobcats, payloaders, heavy equipment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and climb; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; talk and hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or occasionally crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • The employee will have to climb tanks, tank wagons and railcar stairs or ladders with a load of up to 25 pounds.?
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • Specific hearing abilities required by this job include hearing normal tones, normal face to face, telephone, and two-way radio conversation
