Job description

Job Summary

The Powder Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of bulk cement, fly ash, slag, and other powdered materials to readymix concrete plants. This position requires adherence to all safety regulations, accurate material delivery, routine equipment inspections, and courteous customer interaction while representing the company in a professional manner.


Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate pneumatic (powder) bulk trucks to deliver cementitious materials to company plants

  • Load, transport, unload, and properly offload powdered materials using air pressure systems

  • Follow all DOT, OSHA, MSHA (if applicable), and company safety policies and procedures
  • Perform pretrip and posttrip vehicle inspections and document any mechanical or safety issues
  • Maintain daily drivers’ logs, delivery tickets, and other required paperwork accurately and timely
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, plant personnel, and others regarding delivery schedules and site conditions
  • Ensure proper hookup and unloading procedures to prevent spills, contamination, or equipment damage
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned truck and equipment
  • Report accidents, incidents, or material discrepancies immediately
  • Assist with basic maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Comply with environmental regulations and dust control procedures

Work Schedule

  • Fulltime position with early morning starts
  • Overtime, weekends, and occasional holidays may be required based on production needs

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements (doubles/triples, tanker)

  • Clean driving record in compliance with company and DOT standards
  • Ability to operate manual (10-speed) or automatic transmission vehicles

  • Working knowledge of pneumatic bulk equipment or willingness to obtain training
  • Ability to pass DOT physical, drug and alcohol screening, and background check
  • Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and follow written and verbal instructions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience driving powder/bulk trucks or tankers
  • Experience in concrete, construction materials, or heavy equipment hauling
  • Familiarity with readymix concrete operations and plant environments

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders and steps on trucks and plant structures
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods
